I haven't heard anything about the resort photographer but I am sure they will be nice photos...the reason we are bringing one down is just because from what I understand Cuba doesn't have the same technology as we do here, so the pics may not look as 'nice' as they do on sites like this. For us, we are paying for the entire wedding ourselves so there wasn't anyway we could afford to cover travel costs plus their own package charge. I would suggest looking into newer photogs that just want to build their portfolio....it took some time to find one but we're really glad we did.

If anyone would like, I can send my photo a msg asking if she knows anyone she can reccomend...or you can check her website out Heather Windsor Photography and maybe she will be able to help out

As for booking the wedding date, I think they start taking reservations for 2011 in February.

JNL, we are booking May 1st to May 8th as well, gonna go put down the deposit this week. Our preferred date would be May 5th. If ever we get married on the same day, do you have any preference for time of the day?
Hi!
I have another question for you if you don't mind :) My TA told me that I can't book now for April 2011 and that I need to wait till April (2010)...so I was just wondering if you are offically booked on the first week of May or is it subject to change?

Thanks!!!

Hi ronNmel.

i went through a company that deals with destination wedding and have been quoted a price and placed a deposit down for 10. The dates are confrimed, but the time of flight and airlines are not. So its not complete.
the price they quoted me was around $1400, but if i pay attention and the price drops i get a one time rate reduction for the group. Not sure if that is a good deal, but i was worried as time passes the price for this resort will ibe almost as high as the Iberostar varadero and that resort is usually around 1500 hundred plus in april / may.
I know this resort is new and it looks like it is becoming very popular so, i took a chance and placed a deposit.

hope that was helpful.

Just noticed that you asked me a question, sorry about that. I was actually leaning more towards the May 4th 2011.
And i spoke with Yahimara and i think she might have misunderstood me. If she told you they are not taking reservations til February, I think i need to email her again and makes sure she knows i was taking about 2011.
She confirmed a date, but now I'm thinking she talking about 2010 because a when i said i wanted 2 or 4 o'clock she said only 2 was available on the 4th.

i'll have to check into that.

Good luck with the planning. :)
Well actually, as I've written in a couple of threads, I ended up booking April 30th to May 7th, so we have decided to get married on the 4th. My TA was able to secure the date with Yahimara, but it will not be confirmed by the notary until sometimes next month though. We asked for 2pm, and plan on eating during the second service, at 8:30pm.

I believe the price is set, but that is only for standard room double occupancy. For singles and for kids the prices are subject to change.

At first my TA had told me that I would not be able to book before April as well, but then she was able to get group pricing by Air Canada Vacations and Air Transat Holidays.

We booked a photographer from Calgary who travels to Cuba very often to shoot weddings. She does not charge for the trip, she only charges for the photography. We have her for 2 days. The day of the wedding and antoher day to do other pictures in Havana or anywhere else we would like.

How much does she charges for the photography?

Yahimara sent me some pics yesterday of the walkway to the ceremony. First there is a bridge, and than sand all the way to the gazebo. I have tried to upload them here, but can't seem to figure it out (it says invalid file eventhough it's a jpeg)

Send me a PM with your email if you'd like me to send them to you :-)

Cheers!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
