Hi ladies

I didn't really haggle on anything extra, although I know a lot of people have. I was considering doing the wooden runner, but decided against it once I got there. Since we used the iPod station in both locations (cocktail party and reception) they did one for half price - fine by me. I wanted my planning and time there to be as stress free as possible, and by this point the few extra $$ weren't going to make much difference to my already-blown budget :)

We used the free supper at El Cocotal as our 'welcome' supper. We went with the menu that had carmelized chicken or beef tenderloin as the main entree. Everyone really loved the food and the service was great!

Our reception supper for the wedding was menu 3B, which gave you a choice of chicken, beef tenderloin or mahi mahi. The food was amazing! Everyone raved about it for days! Also, while the reception was going on, I decided that I wanted a bottle of champagne for every table (there were only 3). They did this and just charged it to my room! So even last minute details are possible!

As for music, we did consider a DJ, but ended up going with the iPod. Our group was rather small (20 people total) and I think the DJ would have been too much. The iPod worked out just fine for us! We ate at such a leisurely pace that there really wasn't that much time for dancing! We ended up at the bar later that night anyways.

My biggest stresser about the whole wedding was my TA. She didn't even reply to half of my guests, she refused to reprice the package when she told me originally it was possible, and then could miracuously offer a better price when I told her my guests were booking online, as it was cheaper. All of our guests were there for 7 nights, and most paid about $1800 airfare and tax included.

Good Morning Everyone!

I just picked up the magazine, "Destination Weddings & Honeymoons" and there is a short article about a wedding that took place at EDR in 2008. It was a beautiful wedding and had some great ideas that I thought I would share with you all:

For Party Favors: The family went into Playa de Carmen before the wedding and picked up maracas. I thought this was super cute! You could do a lot with them and you wouldn't have to worry about getting them down there since you got them in Mexico.

For Escort Cards: The bride got sand dollars and put everyone's name on the sand dollar and table number and displayed them in box filled with sand. (Is anyone else doing escort cards?)

Bring a Polaroid Camera for the reception, which I thought was super cute and their photographer implemented their photos with the Polaroid photos.

Well I hope this helps! Have a great day!

Family Friendly Resorts nearby for guests who still want to bring kidshuh.gif

So we picked the EDR due to the fact it was ADULT ONLY...now I have people wanting to bring their kids and are asking about nearby resorts....I know my TA can assist with this, but I wanted to know if anyone else was having to deal with the day passes etc...for those who insist to bring their kids. Any advice would be great!

Thanks!

EDRBride2009- Would love to hear more about your wedding experience and see a couple of photos if you have any!

I did have one person angry at me for picking an adults only resort. I tried to play it off that we picked this location because of the better price (i told her kid friendly was more!) and then that we really wanted everyone to have an adult romantic vacation of their own. I said, 'oh you wouldn't want to drag him all the way to mexico adn have to buy him passport anyway!' It was only one couple that it affected so hopefully it wasn't too bad.

I think I agree about the Ipod. I have the classical music for the ceremony and then the ipod for dinner right now. I didn't do a apckage for the private dinner but picked and chose my salad, entree and dessert. I would love any photos please EDR bride!!! :)

Ok so my travel agent is recommending May over February/early March for me because she says the prices are better. But she is quoted me a complete package (air/hotel/insurance) $1200 for 5days 4 nights. I said i was hoping not to go over $1500 for a week trip for my guests and she says that will be hard at the el dorado. I have read of people getting better prices can anyone let me know what prices they are getting for a week and what time of year it is in?? Thanks bunches!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
