We've been considerable lucky in weather, it's been no more the -15 with the windchild and now we are expected to reach +2 in the next few days.. and it's stay up for awhile!

Too bad I am not a winter person to enjoy it. I like to sit at home and just watch the snow. I am a summer person, you wont catch me home on a nice sunny hot day lol

Change of subject. My MOH was over yesterday.. and I was showing her a few things I am doing for the OOT bags, and she said I was putting way to much effort into it and no one would even notice.. like my spanish for dummies booklet.. well I'd like to find something to put it in.. so it'll be more of a waterproof thing.. she said just to leave it..I'm breaking my head for nothing!

Am I?!? am I really doing all of this for nothing? Or do you think people (most people) will appreciate the efforts I went through?!

and if they don't, does it matter.. I have the satisfaction knowing I put a lot of work and time into people who are spending enough for our wedding.

Need your opinion guys! lol

Well coming from someone who is doing the OOT bags, I have to say (and hope!) that they're not a waste of time and money! So far I've really only made mention of them to coworkers for their opinion and they all think it's a really neat idea. To others, I referred to them as small welcome bags - kind of like loot bags at a birthday party - and seemed to get a good reception to the idea as well. Maybe your MOH is just thinking that since you have a small number of people going that little items that you might include aren't that big a deal. I say that if it's something you want to be doing to show your appreciate then just go ahead with it! If she continues to be negative, then thank her for her opinion and just let it go from your mind. Don't let her ruin your fun!

As for the RSVP reminders, I also had just a few so I hand wrote my post cards to everyone (hahaha and then forgot to add my stickers with our website and email address!). The wording on each was very slightly different but in general said

"Just a quick note to remind you that the RSVP date - January 31, 2010 - for our wedding is quickly approaching. While you don't need to be booked by this date, we ask that you please let us know if you'll be able to join us or not. Hope to see you there!"

The postcards should all have reached their destinations by now although I haven't heard any confirmation of that yet. Of the handful of people that we're still waiting on, pretty much everyone has *some* way to reach us even if not through the wedding website or our email so it's just a waiting game. After Jan.31 I'm just assuming that anyone I haven't heard from is not coming.

don't worry about the bags too much, tracy! your MOH may not be able to see it now, but what you're putting effort into will help her and the rest of your guests once you're down there and i'm sure that everyone will appreciate it. it's good to be discerning about what items people will use and what they won't, but it's a really neat gesture and i can't imagine people won't respond well to them!

by the way... -15 with the wind chill still sounds unbearable to me!! it was 6 degrees here this morning and i thought i was going to turn into a human icicle!

lol a human icicole To funny!!!!!!!!

I guss we're use to the real cold weather.. so when it's -15 it's a nice break from-20 and up.

Thanks guys for your kind words, I think everyone will like them ,and all the stuff will be used..I guess for her she isn't see the finish product and she's nevr been away, so she isn't aware of what is needed and not. I am sure she and everyone else will appreciate the oot bags.

I am not going to let it bug me! lol

Meghan, I hope you don't mind I am so steal your wording for the letter. It's written so well!

And Welcome to the new commers!:)

How big are they? If they're 8 by 11 sized pages you could look for some binders or duotangs and then use some pretty paper or fabric to cover the outside. You would want to wrap the outer part like a present and glue gun it in place, and then put a smaller square of cardstock on the inner cover to cover up the folds (I hope that makes sense, it's kind of hard for me to describe).

Here was my first letter:

Hi Everyone,

In case you are thinking about joining us in Jamaica next April, we are

sending out a friendly reminder . If you do plan to join us, we want to suggest that you secure a

room reservation as soon as possible, a small deposit holds the reservation.

The rate for 4 nights is $372 pp for a double room.

One final note: Passports are required for travel to Jamaica, so now would

be a great time to make sure your passport is up to date or to obtain your

passport if you don't already have one. Passport applications can be obtained and

submitted through your local Post Office, and processing time is generally 4

to 6 weeks. Detailed information on passports can be found on the US

Department of State website:

Passport Home

I copied from one of you on that monkey.gif

As for OOT bags - I think mine came in today from Vistaprint - I'll have to take a picture tonight - and I just bought crossword puzzles for $1 each at Target last night so I hope people appreciate them!

This was my second note - not quite as nice : )

Hey there -

Sorry to be so pushy, but if you're coming to the wedding, please book the room ASAP - I'm only going to be holding them another week and then the rate won't be guaranteed anymore.

Here's the travel agent info:

PS - we are only waiting for one couple to book and we are DONE!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
