I'm also getting married at the Gran Caribe. I was considering getting married at the Royal, but all of my guests are staying at the Gran and I just thought it would be easier that way. I've also heard the Gran's gazebo is a bit more secluded than the Royal's. If anyone's interested in knowing, the WC told me today that they charge $350 per vendor for outside vendors... so if you're thinking about getting photography, DJ etc... from outside vendors, remember to keep that in mind when planning your budget.

Bad news.... our wedding coordinator quit (or was let go) unexpectedly and now we are playing the waiting game to see who will get our account. I'm so sad because she was great! We wanted to get out invitations out (I feel like we are on the late side) but we can't until we confirm everything with the hotel. And we were also told about the $350 outside vendor fee... AH! that's crazy expensive... guess our photographer better deliver!smile41.gif

Wow... can you believe the equipment/pipes on the beach right out the window! That must have been so disappointing... that must have been when they were getting the "new beach" they advertise on the website!

FYI- if you plan on having a wedding that starts at/after 4pm there is a $400 surcharge... I'm not sure when this was introduced but it wasn't there when we booked last Sept...they better not think they are charging us that!

That wedding on the photographers website was LATE NOVEMBER 2009.

When I saw the pictures, I did some research about the beach. I guess the government had some problems with the resort and their way of creating/preserving the beach (stealing sand?). I read an article that basically said 1)there were unsolved legal issues with the resort and govt 2) the resort was last on the list for beach rebuilding due to legal issues 3)the resort's owners were being stubbornhuh.gif and 4) the beaches were being rebuilt as of late 2009 but they skipped the Real Resorts (both).

I THINK the issues were resolved and the beach recreated but I am not sure. The person who posted the article link made a vague statement about the entire beach repair (all of Cancun) would be completed before February 2010.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
