I'm not sure if this is the case still or not but we just got married in November and they told us in order to qualify for the "free wedding" with 15 rooms booked that we would have had to have had our 15 rooms booked by Oct.08 for anything in the 2009 year.

 

As we only got engaged in November '09 we obviously did not qualify. Seemed bizarre as travel rates weren't even out at that time and we were almost a year away from our wedding date when I inquired but that was the case.

 

I know there were many girls on the Majestic Colonial Facebook group that had many reasons for wanting to have them make an "exception" if you will, and they would never budge on it.

I did so much plannning and in a way I'm glad to have that all done with but wish I could do the whole wedding/trip again as it went by way too fast! Plus I would love to get away from the snow and cold!!

Was it the official Marriage Certificate that you needed for the symbolic ceremony? I know it takes a while to get the official one after the civil ceremony. Was the hand-written one that they give you right away enough for the resort or do they require the official one? We are trying to plan our civil ceremony now for before we leave but we're not sure how far in advance to do it.

Any advice that you have would help!

Hello ladies!

I'm so excited!!! After reading couple of pages I'm even more happier and sure about our choice to have a Symbolic Ceremony at the Majestic Elegance!

The resort is amazing by itself and everything that has to do with the wedding, seems great as well!

I'll be reading your posts a lot from now on (since I finally for this thread)...So, YAY! One more excited Bride of Majestic Elegance is here!

I was told by Maritee (our WC) that whatever paperwork I got from the JP would be fine. We did our "kitchen ceremony" as I like to call it, one week before we left and the JP ended up giving us what is called a "Civil Marriage Statement" (which is in a certificate form) from the "Director of Vital Statistics" and is hand-written at the time of marriage. This is what I brought to the meeting with the WC at the resort.

She then said we can order a large or small size official marriage certificate from the province at any time. I ordered a small wallet size one once we were back just to have for when I needed proof to change my name for things like the bank etc. as it's easier than the larger one I got from her (8 1/2 by 11).

LOL, i fell your pain! We are traveling with our 2b 18 mnth old in May too. Too bad we'll miss eachother by a week, they could play! I have heard of brides getting upgraded to a 1 bedroom anyway, but maybe more likely with a babe? We're hoping the same thing too since we dont want to pay for the 1 bdrm suite. I think it will be fun (and challenging) traveling with her. I am going to get a Peapod to bring with us so she can nap on the beach if possible...is that asking too much? haha

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

      Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
