Who is your photographer? If so, who and how much?
Are you using the hotel DJ or getting on from outside the property?
If so who? How much?

Thanks girls:)

For us, we are planning to have a beach reception.

We are using a photographer who has an officer here in St. Louis and one in Florida. Her name is Maggie Stolzberg and she specializes in destination weddings. Her prices were very reasonable. Her website is Maggie Stolzberg Photography - Destination Wedding & Lifestyle Photographer

We are using an ipod instead of a DJ.

Ha! She was telling us about you guys too! Maggie is the best! We are very excited about her photographing our wedding. My fiance was friends with her brother in high school and we immediately fell in love with her work.

Since Maggie hasn't been to Barcelo Maya before, I promise we will scope out all the good photo places for you guys. Our dates are getting close!

Hi Becky!
I'm so excited to have Maggie as well. I happened to just run across her work when I was looking for a local reception hall and just fell in love with her photos! She is the sweetest, just an absolute doll and I can't wait to see how she captures our day..Thanks ahead of time for scoping out great photo spots!:)
Where are you planning on having your ceremony? Have you picked colors and all that good stuff yet? I thought I had it all figured out and then ran across another scheme I liked so Now I'm trying to decide again..I guess I need to stop looking at bridal magazines LOL! Our dates are getting so close!!!!

Can anyone give me a price range for Maggie? How long are you all paying for her to stay? I am trying to decide if it's more reasonable to book a photographer from the states and fly them down or to use a local photographer in Mexico.

Thanks,

Steph

Hi there Steph,
I would just contact Maggie, her number is on the website listed . While she has set packages with prices, she was willing to customize a package for me. I booked her for a 4 night stay. I would think prices would depend on availability, length of stay, what exactly you need..etc. But she is super sweet and very easy to talk to. For me, when I compared prices, what came in the packages, length of time I would have the photographer etc.., it just made more sense to bring someone with me, but Photography was very important to me...Hope that helps...

Hey, I'm actually having my reception in a banquet room to save some money and also because we're getting married in Jan (15 days!) and i hear it can be cool and windy that time of year on the beach at night. We're having a cocktail hour on the rooftop of the palace before our reception to add a little something extra in that is still outdoors.

Our photographer is Claudia Rodriguez, her works looks great and she is in Cancnun.

We are not getting a DJ since we're having an AHR with a DJ. We're planning on using an ipod and paying for an extra hour to have some time for dancing!

Was it dark? What kind of lighting did you have?

I want to bring my own hanging candle lanterns, but haven't heard back from the coordinators if it is ok. Does anyone here know if they would permit that? Also, are there trees to hang lanterns from?

I know that they sell torchieres and other lighting decorations, but I worry that they will cost a fortune.

I assume the sun goes down just after 5. My reception will begin at 6pm. I wonder if I should start it earlier in order to catch the sunset? Any suggestions would be fantastic. Thanks so much for reading.
I've seen some pictures of people that had lights on the palm trees. It looked like pretty good lighting. I would think they would set it up nicely that that they lighting was decent. I know of others that have brought down their own lights, centerpieces, etc and they have had no problem putting them up for them. You should be good!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
