I think this is a great idea Just be careful!! I read on another site that the Riu security did not let the delivery people on to the property. But how about if it was an Ocho rios florist, taking a cab into town to pick it up yourself. Hmmmm now this is what I might do. lol By the way I have also read somewhere that the security personal gave some guests of a wedding a hard time trying to get on property. The bride gave them her guests names and they werent allowed to enter and her guests missed the wedding. This is 1 reason why I insisted that all my guests stay at the Riu and not sandels like some guests wanted to.

good point Jerzzygirl...

I heard back from the florist (Kreations Flowers)- here is the email she sent me with a picture of a bouquet (I emailed her my colors & asked for her suggestion on types of flowers, etc):

Hi Heidi

I have attached a bouquet with roses and white orchids, this I would suggest for the bride US$73.00.

The same for the brides maids in the hot pink (rose) and green orchids in a round bouquet (not cascading like yours). US$66.00 each

You have the option of including the coloured roses and orchid in your bouquet

For the boutineers pink roses mixed with the green orchid US$6.00 each.

You have the option of givng the groom the white roses and white orchid if you choose white for your bouquet.

I hope you like this one. Of course we can look at others.

Best wishes

Kerry Ann

Still haven't heard back from Riu yet - but this company's prices are SO MUCH BETTER!!!!

oh, and here's the picture she sent me of the bridal bouquet that is $73US:

Hey girls, I am sorry that you are having pricing issues. But I must say that I am glad you guys are having the same issues as me. I have been doubting my decision to go with Beaches since I booked, and wishing I had choosen the Riu. I still wish I had done that, but at least I can see that I am not the only one that is getting surprised by hidden fees!

I had to pay an extra $1,500 to be able to get married at sunset! The only choices I had were like 11-4. I always wanted to do it at sunset and that package included some upgrades, so I figured why not. But it doesn't include ALL the upgrades I wanted. I think the DW is way more expensive then I originally thought...

Carly- you are definitely not alone on this one! rolleyes.gif

and OMG! an extra $1,500 to have your wedding at sunset?!?! WOW!! though, you wouldn't have even had that option at the Riu - so I guess Beaches is perfect for you!!! (the Riu's latest ceremony time is 4pm)

I'm glad I'm not the only one. When Mike and I first started talking about this a few years ago, we thought it would cost maybe $5000 for the whole thing. When I told him my estimate had tripled, he didn't understand why. It seems when you book it that everything is included, but obviously it doesn't. Thank god we have this forum because otherwise I would show up the week of my wedding totally unprepared!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
