Getting a copy of your Jamaica Marriage Certificate

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to update that I was able to change my social security card and my driver's license with the certified copy of the marriage register that the minister gave us after our ceremony at the ROR. The DMV sort of questioned it since it didn't have a raised seal, but once they saw it was from out of the country, they just accepted it. Insurance was also super easy, they didn't even need to see any documentation! I am glad I tried to change everything now rather than wait the MONTHS the official license is going to take. I feel officially married now! :)

The SS office let me do it with the certified copy from the minister but the DMV would not...they went online to see what the actual license from Jamaica looked like and would not accept it....sooo annoying!

We were married at the Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort in June (5-12, 2009) and just received our marriage certificates about 2 weeks ago. Jascynthia, the wedding co-ordinator (whom I understand is no longer the wedding co-ordinator) told us 6-8 weeks, and it was pretty much double that and then some.....but we did receive it nonetheless (without having to call and follow up about where it was).....

Petals....did you get the little gift the resort advised would be sent when you received your marriage certificate?? We didn't. No big deal, I'm just happy the Certificate arrived!

Oh no, no gift, but after waiting that long for the papers, I wasn't holding my breath for the gift.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
