IDK if you ladies like any self-help books, but I'm reading a book right now called "Loving What It Is" by Byron Katie and it's amazing!

I struggle with finding myself getting frustrated with people around me because they do something that annoys me and I think they shouldn't or they don't do something I think they should or asked them to do. This book talks about how most of the time, we are angry with the thoughts we think up surrounding a certain problem, not the problem itself. It teaches you that getting frustrated with reality is hopeless and we will never change reality. "It Is What It Is" has never made more sense to me now.

It's been helpful during the wedding planning time. How often are we saying, "I wish so and so would do this" or " I can't believe she is doing blah blah". This book taught me that saying some one should or shouldn't do something is pointless and we are the only ones left frustrated! Saying our friend "should be nicer" is silly because, point blank, she ISN'T nicer and us wanting her to be isn't going to change her!

I know it seems silly and possibly hard to understand, but it has really helped me remain calm during these busy times when things don't seem to go my way!

If you enjoy the Twilight books, check out this link here once you've at least read the first, you won't be sorry.
Thanks for the link! I haven't finished the Twilight series yet, but I want to read everything she has, so I'll definitely read it later!

I've just started reading The Other Boelyn Girl. I'm in the second chapter and find it interesting already.
How was the Other Boelyn Girl?

I am putting together my christmas list now

I can't stand the Harry Potters or Twilights (sorry to all the fans out there)

I have Water for Elephants, Memoirs of Geisha, Open (Andre Agassi Story), 19 Minutes, the Emily Griffin books--- what else should I be adding here ladies?

My God....there's another person out there who can't stand the Twilight series?!?!?!? Woooooo!! I just DO NOT understand what all the hype is about.

I am currently reading Water for Elephants (so far, so good!) and I also picked up The Friday Night Knitting Club :)

19 Minutes is a good book but the ending is a bit disappointing....Emily Giffin is awesome chick lit!

  • 2 weeks later...

I haven't read through all of this thread, so I'm not sure if any suggested this series by Philippa Gregory. She's amazing and brought the love of reading back into my busy life.

She writes mostly about old England and really has you enthrawed with King Henry & his wives....I read all the below books (in this order within 6 months).....I couldn't put them down.... The Chronilogical order goes:

The Constant Princess (Katherine of Aragon); The Other Boleyn Girl (Anne Boleyn); The Boleyn Inheritance (Anne of Cleves and Katherine Howard); The Queens Fool (Mary Tudor and Elizabeth 1) and The Virginâ€s Lover (Elizabeth 1). The Other Queen (Mary Queen of Scots).

She also has a new book out called the White Queen (read in 2 weeks) and is working on the Red Queen, King Henry's mother. .....Seriously, after I passed my books onto my friends, they're addicted too.....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
