ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hola Girls! I just want to clarify, doubts about our services in Real Resorts, yesterday I received a phone call from the weddings manager based on the corporate offices here in Cancun, her name is Patty Ulloa, and she told me that there was a Travel Agent that was asking for a quote from DJ Doremixx through the offices based in USA they get a quote $1,100 USD for 3 hours DJ Service and the travel agent asks why the big difference between their quotation and mine if they book me directly? That is $650 USD for DJ service for 1-4 hours and $550 USD for the light up dance floor, seems that the weddings manager based in the offices in USA asked to the owner why they were permitted my access only charging $100 USD fee if they can get more $$ if you book my services through them?

And since that moment (yesterday to be exact) they have this new policy, all the outside vendors including me has to be booked through them, if not we are not going to be allowed to the Hotel, this policy will apply for new request all the weddings that we already have booked directly will be allowed without any problem, this policy will apply for new requests.

I am really sorry about all this, but I have to respect this new policy.S&M.gif

About Randi´s wedding, Patty (The Wedding manager based in Cancun) told me that they will respect the same price that I gave her, but it is just an exception, for new future requests through them they will quoting you $1100 USD per only 3 hours of DJ Service, I spoke with her I told her that the price is ridiculous for 3 hours, pokestick.gif and she told me that they will revise the prices and will inform me about it.stupid.gif

Now is a fact I am losing all the new requests and clients that want to get a quote directly with me if they are getting married in Real Resorts, shots.gif

Regards!

Hi Lady Di,

No I never heard of this! but I have already booked DJ Ivan prior to to this absurd new policy. I feel so angry and frusterated right now after reading about this. Based on DJ Ivan's post everything should be ok for us but I am not sure. It is still very unnfair for future brides. Zulma won't get back to me and it has been over three weeks.

I am sorry to say but right now I think we may pull out of getting married at The Royal. I just think their ethics are really bad as a business. Their main office has been absolutely horrible to deal with. First with Doreen than Angie. Zulma was wonderful in person but since our site visit she has not returned any of my e-mails. Now this with DJ Ivan. Also there was the constant changing of rates.

I know every bride has said there is nothing to worry about. I truely believe that but I don't know that personally I can stand by a place that conducts business this way. Sorry girls I just had to voice and vent after reading the most recent events.

Hi Ladies!!

I am curious how early you sent the booking form and deposit to the resort? I was thinking about sending mine now, our wedding is a year and 1 month away...I just get nervous as the deposit is non refundable...I just keep reading posts and doing research to make sure this is where I want the wedding. But I'm also afraid 1/11/11 might be a popular date and I don't want to miss out on it!!

I guess one thing i am curious about - since Ivan is a preferred vendor, do you guys know if this means we have to pay the $100 outside vendor fee for him? has anyone told you this?
Yes... you do still have to pay the outside vendor fee of $100 because it is like you are bringing in your own DJ since you did not book with the Resort. Obviously, with the new structure you can only book Ivan through the resort so you would not have to pay the $100 fee.

BTW... IVAN was fantastic! And... even if you have to go through the resort I would totally do it! We just gave him a list of artist we wanted played at our reception and everything was perfect. All night our guest were commenting on the music and how great it was! Thanks Ivan!

We had our welcome dinner at The Royal in the garden. I was worried that it was going to be too similar to the reception, but we ended up doing a buffet at the welcome dinner and then did a sit down dinner at the reception on the beach. The Welcome Dinner was fabulous. People had a wonderful time. Also, it is a lot more inexpensive to have it there at The Royal if most of your guest are staying there. Let me know if you have anyother questions.

Randi (and others)-

I read this post and called the Royal just now because I had also been in contact with Ivan about services (looks like we were neck-and-neck for our day!). Ivan had never said anything about this to me and I was prepared to send him my money today. The person I spoke with at the Royal, a WC, said hat the resort has made a decision to no longer allow Ivan's services because he was doing "bad things" with money between the brides and the resort. ALthough I have heard many wonderful things on here about him, so I find it strange, I find it even more weird that he was willing to take my money/contract if he knew about this. The WC is emailing names of other dj's in the area, which I can give to you as well. I would be careful...

To add more specifics to that, I just spoke with Zulma, who is one of the WC's. I don't want to make any brides who have booked with him nervous, and I don't know what they are doing if you have an upcoming wedding but I would DEFINTELY check with you WC.

Teri -

What was the pricing like for that? Is it per person or a general fee?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
