Yay, I am so excited, so we are def going to kaanapali, maui from 13th to the following Sun (with IL's and aunt and uncle) . Then we will prob hang with E's family a few days upcountry in Kula at the farm, then We are going to island hop to kauai for a few days on our own.

E's parent offered to give us points to use for the westin (princeville) or the sheraton (poipu) , I havent done enought research yet to know what I want to do. But I think we will prob do the north shore for more days and then maybe one or two nights on a diff part of the island?

Do you think that is necissary, or just easier to drive around and do day trips?

Not sure, still in the wee stages of planning :)

But any thoughts you have to share are appreciated :)

Erika the Westin in Princeville is really nice!!! you can explore all of the North Shore with that as your base :)

it's a pretty small island BUT the main road doesn't go all the way around b/c of the NaPali coast so you can't circle the Island.

We stayed half the week on the South Shore and explored that half of the Island then the other half on the North Shore and explored that half. we did 8 days. if you are only going for 3 or 4 days i would recommend staying in the middle like maybe in Poipu - you could explore everything from there!

are you into big hotels or small places? what do you want to do while you are there and i will give you some good ideas! Kauai is like Eden - it is really cool!

Prob something like that.
i would do 2 nights at Sheraton Poipu and 3 nights at Westin Princeville - in that order if you can.
also when you arrange for your rental car - get a convertible - they are like $10 more a day and worth every penny!

do you want to plan activities or just go there and figure it out?

some things i would definitely do would be hiking in the Waimea Canyon and a Boat Trip (AMAZING to see the cliffs from this vantage point) to the NaPali Coast - these are both done from the Southern side so while you would be staying at Poipu.

then when staying on the North Shore i would do some day drives (so many beautiful waterfalls and beaches and the scenery is amazing on the North side), check out the town of Kapaa, if you are up for it, some rigorous hiking in the NaPali Coast (different viewpoints than the boat tour), relaxing, massages, great restaurants in Hanalei Bay!

can i come? wink.gif

OMG, I am totes convinced on the boat tour, I love boat anything. We are thinking (these are all maybe's) Splurging and doing a helicopter tour, zip lining or maybe and eco tour. Hiking on our own

We love to snorkle so we usually do that every morning. then acitiviy the rest of the day. And lots of delish eating every where.

well the Boat Tour and Helicopter are both very unique vantage points of the NaPali Coast - we opted for the Boat tour b/c it is more involved and you get to be on the water, see the sunset, etc. they also have 'snorkeling boat tours' that might be perfect for you guys! i would recommend one or the other b/c they are both not cheap and tour the same area.

snorkeling is available everywhere but we thought the Hanalei Bay area beaches (N. Shore) were the best. Also, Hanalei Bay has the best restaurants for sure!

let me know if you need any more info!!!

Hi Lori, Check out the restaurant Mediterranean Gourmet on the North Shore in Haena. We are going to have our rehearsal dinner there and the restaurant is beautiful! It is right on the water and the inside is very colorful and spacious. We didn't try the food but, the menu looks amazing. They also got best restaurant for large parties. They are located on the same property as Hanalei Colony Resort. Call the restaurant not the resort for information. The resort will put you in touch with their wedding planner. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
