Christina - Erika actually advised against having a cocktail party in between my wedding and reception. My wedding was at 4 and the reception started at 7. After standing around mingling for a while (they provide champagne after the ceremony) my guests just made their way up to the White Sands lobby bar around 5 b/c our reception was at La Laguna. It actually worked out really well b/c some people stopped back at their rooms - heck a couple of our friends went swimming b/c it was so freaking hot! We had a cocktail party the night before the wedding at the Bar Las Rocas at the saltwater pool and it was a great location. I know when we were picking locations there were 3 to choose frome - I just can't remember the other 2. I know that Las Rocas is open to the public until 6 so I'm not even sure that you could have a private cocktail party there or at any of the other locations earlier than that.

Thanks for the info. We were originally thinking that because our ceremony time is so early (2:00) that we wanted to plan something in between. I think we will just have everyone gather somewhere for a few drinks instead of spending the extra money for food. If people are hungry, they can get something! It's a good opportunity for afternoon siestas too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
