Over the past couple months I've spent hours on here reading all your thoughts and comments and I must say thank you because it's really what helped me choose AS.

I'm eager to start my planning because the wedding is just right around the corner..YIKES! Sooo Exciting!

This doesn't really fit with my post but I thought it was cute!
Vanessa,
Welcome to the best thread ever! Please ask lots and lots of questions. The time will fly by and you will be a Mrs. before you know it.
Happy planning.

Amy F - I got very reasonable quotes on my flowers. I am using lillies and roses in my bouquet and lillies and daisies in my BMs. BM's are $80 each and mine is $50 b/c its larger than the free one I am supposed to get. I am using Orange and Pink Gladiolas for the beach decor and they are only $43/each vase (using 2) and then my centerpieces are $47 each and are described as - Square Glass vases filled with orange and fuchsia lilies, daisies and roses. Should be accented with yellow and lime green.

At least it seems reasonable to me! I have heard of weddings where flower budgets are $1,000 and mine is around $650 for flowers - so I thought I was doing good!

Also, yeah I think you just get the DJ they have on call. I am going to bring a song list just in case. I remember another bride saying she got a list of his songs and then did not bother putting together her own play list b/c his was really good.

You should PM one of the former brides!

The days are just passing by and I have so much to do!! There is only 102 days until my wedding. I am really starting to freak out. The next 2 weeks my FI is out of town so I can really buckle down and get stuff done and eat only healthy stuff for a change. I love my FI but I can eat so much less when he's not around.

I just found out today that my cake person for my home reception bumped me and so now i am in search of a new cake person. I am sorta PO'ed that she didn't even call, especially since we had met with her several times. Such as life and I will still get a great cake, I know it.

1. Music: We are still trying to narrow down songs to down load and put on our Ipod. When I talked to Tiffany about this, she said the on side coordinator would man the Ipod for us. Has anyone heard different?

2. Flowers: We are getting samples in to see how they look and feel of the silks. I am very excited about that.

3. Invites: We are ordering our at home reception invites next week. FINALLY!!

4. I ordered my FI's ring including the engraving on the inside. I hope he likes it.

5. Dress and veil are in. I need to do my fittings now and pick out some shoes.

Need to do's:

- jewelry for myself and bridesmaids

- shoes for brides maids

- WORKING OUT!!

getting married is so stressful. shots.gif

Hi ladies,

Less than 2 weeks before we leave! I love all the diet tips going back and forth - I'm going to apply them as I try to tone up a bit more. I also find that when I incorporate eggs into my diet, I drop weight more easily and feel less likely to snack. A couple of poached eggs for breakfast with dry wheat toast - fills me up until lunch and provides good, lean protein.

I'm reading all the posts for many of you who have months to go - the time has FLOWN! I just went in for my final fitting today and it's really starting to get real (got very real when I paid the hotel last week!). I'm finishing up my welcome brochure and have a few little to-dos on my list, but feeling fairly organized (knock on wood!).

And a little public service announcement: if any of the AS brides the week of Nov. 22 - Nov. 28 are looking for glass votives for their centerpieces, I decided to buy mine and take them with me instead of paying the hotel $3/each. If anyone is interested in using them (as I would love to not have to take them home with me), feel free to PM me. They are clear glass and I'm using white votive candles. I paid less than a third of what the hotel is charging, so I feel like I saved some money, at least!

Happy planning ladies!

Thanks! I don't drink milk either, I have discovered unsweetened vanilla almond milk and never looked back - 45 cals for 8oz.

I didn't even think of that... I have a cafe at my work and I have them cooked there but a number of my co-workers bring their own and microwave them... I know, sounds gross but they're not bad at all.

So, Is it just me or is there only one dj at as? I always go back and fourth reading old and new questions and answers but cant seem to find info on a dj. I did see mention of dj mania or somthing like that, lots of girls referred him, Im wondering if thats the dj on site or somthing. I guess ill have to ask Tiffany. She quoted me $1500 for a dj, I think thats too much. And I got a choice of 2 photographers, one is expensive and one doesnt even look professional...

wedding in a little over 3 months and im stressing baaaad!!!!!!!!
Funny that you mention the DJ Mannia! I emailed him last night and heard back this morning. I got quoted for 4 hours of DJing with all the equipment and lighting for $990. With the $500 outside vendor fee that's still cheaper than Lomas DJ and I'm happy with all the reviews I read. They seem very professional so I am 90% sure I'll be hiring them.

I have no info on outside vendors with flowers and photographers you know my vote :)

Good luck! Just tackle one thing at a time, it's the only thing that doesn't make me freak out :)

Andrea - It sounds like you don't have too much left to do and have at least it narrowed down, my favorite advice, one thing at a time. :) I just had a mental breakdown regarding my iPod and not knowing who would man it so it's really nice to know that someone will be on hand for you.

Chrissy - OMG, I can't believe your day is almost here!! I would love to use your votive holders but I'm 6 months behind you so I don't think that would work. I'm not a huge meat fan but lean protein always works for me too.

Just pick a day Lindz and keep the TV off and just get it done, that's the only way to do it is power through it.

You think you are freaking out about 9 months? This weekend it's exactly 6 months for Katie and I!! Then next week, we'll be LESS than 6 months, I swear thinking about this last night has got my heart RACING!

What I'm freaking about is music... I planned on downloading music and bringing my iPod but then I thought about it and I really think that I would have to assign someone to it... so I'm now looking into a DJ, the thought relaxes me already.

Also what's stumping me is my tablecard holders, my idea is risky and difficult and the guestbook too... kinda wanted to do the whiteboard idea but a chalkboard instead... weird? Oh and I need my TTD. Sorry... freaking out a little.

Katie - LOL I agree, I'm happier with it here anyways :)

oh yes...2 days ago (the 2nd) it was exactly 6 months until we leave for Mexico!! on Saturday (the 7th) it will be 6 months until my wedding day!!!!!!!!! hence the starting up running again. I figure 6 months is a short enough time to stay motivated and long enough to get some results :)

Amy...TTD - when are you planning on getting it?? I've found one but I'm a little dubious about buying so early as I'll have to find somewhere to put it, and the longer I have it, the more chance I have of ruining it somehow!! lol

I have been doing better the last 2 weeks - lost about 3 pounds so far. We all have problem areas for sure. I have the "saddle bags". They are awful! Even when I was skinny, I still had them, they were smaller - its just my body type.

I am doing breakfast - bran flakes & skim milk - Lunch - Lean pocket (it feels like cheating) with a huge salad w/ tons of veggies and light Hidden Valley Ranch - which is so good it also feels like cheating. Dinner last week was chicken, whole wheat cous cous and broccoli. This week dinner is shrimp and snow peas with brown basmati rice. I find that 1/2 cup of starch at dinner really fills me up and keeps me from wanting a snack later.

I love the drinks you mentioned. Vodka & water is actually not bad, so is vodka & club soda w/ lime. I love Bloody Marys too. They are so good for you except the salt content is very high. Have you ever had a bloody ceasar? Its a bloody mary w/ Clamato juice which is tomato & clam juice. Sounds gross, but even less calories and delish!

The one thing that I try to do is go to bed a little hungry. In the past if I did that, I lost weight. If I go to bed full, I gain weight. I just read online a study where they fed mice a high fat diet and the mice with a lot of the food at dinner gained 42% more weight compared to the mice who's high fat meals were broken up evenly throughout the day.

You girls are so supportive & I really appreciate it.
well done on the 3 lbs Amy!!! Keep up the amazing work....it will all count in the long run :)

also, it makes sense when you think about it...if you eat your fattier/startchier meals in the morning, you are awake longer to burn it off. avoid eating your 'big' meal at dinner time - your body won't have the time to burn enough of it off. try eating more for lunch and just having a snack at dinner time...plus it's so much easier to go to bed hungry and avoid it, than try and go the afternoon hungry as you're likely to snack or eat more at dinner time.

just a thought I'm sure you all know already though :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
