Congratulations. Can't WAIT to see some pictures posted.

My questions for you:

- Did you have your make-up done at the resort? If so, were you happy with it? (In other words- did it totally melt of your face?)

- Where was your reception, and do you know if all the private receptions start at 7:00?

- Which company is DJ Bob with? I am looking in to DJ's right now, and only have prices from one

Thanks for sharing. Post some pictures for us soon!

Christina - I did my own make-up so I can't comment on the spa's ability to do it. My reception was at La Laguna. La Laguna and El Azul are pretty much identical, I just felt like La Laguna was more on the pool and prettier. It ended up being a good choice b/c there is an air-conditioned bar in the White Sands lobby that my guests all cooled off in between the ceremony & reception (it was the hottest/muggiest day of the week - BRUTAL). I'm pretty sure that all private receptions are 7-11pm - that's basically the time I was told and I thought that was a good time so I never tried to change it. DJ Bob is his own company Wedding DJ We paid $450 for 4 hours and he was worth every penny.

has anyone been talking to Rocio lately? I've tried getting a hold of her by e-mail, and she doesn't reply. I tried asking my travel agent to email her - hasn't replied to the TA either. I tried calling - she's never in the office and neither is her assistant.

I know other brides say communication is sketchy, but everything is organized when you get there... well thats a little comforting, but there are some things we need to know before we leave home for the wedding. Sorry, just needed to vent, this is frustrating

1. Reserve space in one of the restaurants for your group, everyone will have to have the same dish, you will need to tell Rocio in advance what this dish is. You cannot have dancing or music here, and it will not be private, they will section off space for you. As far as I know, there is no additional cost for you to do this.

2. If you want a cocktail hour it is to take place immediately following your ceremony, the cost for this is 15-20$ per person, depending on if you do just beverage service or appetizers and beverages. This will take place where your ceremony took place, not after dinner.

3. If you want a private reception with a dance you have two options, neither one are on the beach, it will be Gran Azul or La Laguna, they are beautiful areas overlooking the pools, Laguna is on the Riveira side of the resort, Azul is on the Colonial/Kantenah. This will cost you a per plate fee depending on the menu choice, but I believe minimum is 45 or 50$ per person. If you want music you can bring an ipod and use their speakers, which alot of brides do, or you can hire a dj. You can have this reception from 7pm-11pm.

I think I answered all of the questions, I know Rocio takes quite a while to respond, and it is super annoying waiting for answers, but trust me once you get down there she has it all under control. Below is a link to my professional pictures from del Sol, you can see the ceremony and reception site and tons of other stuff. I got married in the Garden Gazebo and had my reception at La Laguna with a dj.

Ashley, I'm just reminiscing about all the hard work and planning I put into planning my GP Mexico wedding and came across your post. Our wedding was cancelled back in May b/c of the H1N1 and we got re-routed to Jamaica (as our flights into Mexico were cancelled) Everything worked out great, but It wasn't Mexico!! I hope you had a fantastic week, and a fabulous wedding day! Congratulations!!!

Tammikins,

I e-mailed her last week to tell her to confirm a private reception so I can book a DJ, and have not heard back yet. I don't know when you tried phoning her, but I was able to reach her no problem when I phoned on a Saturday morning. Maybe try in the morning before the weddings start for the day?

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Did you hear from Rocio yet? I just heard back from Ariadna (it says she is WC assistant- don't know if she replaced Erica, or if they have another team member).

When I was there for my wedding the week of Oct. 11-18 Rocio was on vacation. I worked with Erika and Ari - Ari is just new b/c they added another person. Business must be booming if they are expanding the team...

Hi Everyone!

Yes, I got a reply from Erika, Rocio is on vacation, don't know for how long.... But poor Erika is getting 1000+ emails per day from us crazy brides! Now I feel bad for complaining. It must be so hard to keep up with the emails, the people that are having their wedding those days and having to do it all in your non-primary language. On a whole other tangent... any brides who have had their wedding already, I was wondering how the cake and flowers were? Do you get to pick? Do they look nice?

Thanks!

T.

Don't feel bad for complaining- we know they are busy, but sometimes it's hard to wait for a loooong time for a little answer when it's coming up on crunch time. I am sure they are used to all us crazy brides anyways :) who need to know everything right now

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
