Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

So I just got TWO e-mails back from Claudia today. Thought I'd share, in case it helps anyone else out.

1. How many people can you accomodate in the Tower

Lobby/ Terrace area for the reception? We are now

expecting more guests than we originally thought

(maybe 75). I thought you told me 100 when we spoke

on the phone, but I wanted to confirm.

On the terrace only 50 people and inside another 50 people but will not be enough space to dance

So I'm not sure what we are going to do now. Our guest list has now reached at least 80, and I really want the reception in the terrace/lobby area. I think I'm going to ask her if tables can be moved after dinner. I really don't want to have to move inside to the ballroom.

2. Is there some kind of form you would like me to

fill out with our choices for meal, cake, etc? Or

do I just e-mail you as we make decisions?

just send me your desicions

3. Will your front desk staff be able to pass out gift bags for our guests at check-in?

No they are not allowed to do that, this must be arranged trough concierge desk with an additional charge (room delivery $ 4 usd per room)

So this is a bummer! But I swear, someone posted that the Dreams staff passed out their bags without any additional charge. Maybe it was at Dreams Los Cabos, but still... I think I might "challenge" Claudia on this one. Maybe if I mention that other brides have said that there was no fee...or if I point out that we are bringing 80+ guests to their resort, that normally wouldn't be there.... we are making them BIG $$$$.

4. Which florist provides the wedding flowers?

A local florist fressia

On that note, I think I finally found my inspiration bouquet...as some of you know, I have been very indecisive about this... but I think I'm going to send Claudia a pic of Ann's (akh) bouquet of yellow lilies and pink and green orchids, to get a quote. Then have BM carry a few yellow lilies.

And the other e-mail:

Claudia-

With just over 3 months until our wedding day, we are

getting very excited! I'm also trying to get all the

details in order while I'm off work for the summer.

Here are a few questions.

1. At the wedding we saw last October and in several

pictures, I have seen the cocktail hour and buffet

area decorated beautifully with shells, starfish, etc.

Is that something Dreams provides complimentary?

for the buffet display yes is something we have but if you want any other additional décor you can bring it

2. How far in advance do I need to book spa services?

at least 1 month in advance

3. We still haven't decided between the Caribbean

music trio or the mariachi trio. Do you have a

recommendation? When do we need to decide on that?

the mariachi trio (they are very good)

4. Did the DJ company notify you that we will be using

them?

yes

5. Will the bar in the Tower lobby be open during our

reception?

yes

6. Lastly, can you pease tell me what decisions need

to be made in advance, and what we can decide on when

we get there (Oct. 9)?

the more things you decide the better

Thank you,

Susan

Susan -

Did Claudia provide you with the name of the DJ? I had emailed her but still haven't received a response. Have you spoken to them? Do they seem to operate the same way as a DJ would here in the states? I'm a little nervous about this piece becuase its one of the most important things to me. I, and many of my guests, love to dance so if the DJ is no good I will be really bummed out. I'm hoping that I can just give them a list of all the songs I'd like them to play.

Thnks!

Jenn-

Yes, Claudia put my in contact with the DJ company. Then I was able to e-mail directly with them, which was much easier. They have been very responsive and usually get back to me within a day or two. I was also concerned about the DJ because my friends/family are big dancers too. I will be making a list of songs for them...they said that would be no problem. If they didn't have any of the songs we requested, they would get them for us. The DJ is also an MC, which was also important to us because we would like to do many of the "traditional" wedding things (first dance, garter toss, etc.) that and MC can be helpful with.

I'm attaching the "packages" they offer which also has their e-mail address listed. You can also negotiate for more than the standard 4 hours... Hope this helps!

Thanks Susan! I'll have to wait until I have enough points to open the attachment. I seem to use them up just as quickly as I get them!

I'm so happy to hear that they seem to be very accomodating and have an MC too. That's a huge relief to me. Can't wait to dance the night away!

Hey RoSean!

Glad you made it through the thread :)

You may still want to ask her snme of the same so you can get it in writing. With what just happened to Nicole (NHPT), at another resort, I am going to print off all my emails back and forth with Claudia in case I need to make reference back to them when I am there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
