I wish you the best in luck in finding that special dress for you. I have high hopes for you, and finger's crossed. Tho I am sure you'll find something you like. Seems like it might be easier for you, to go try a few different types of dress. My SIL was like you, had no idea what she liked, color, bead work or not. We narrowed it down everytime she tryed a dress on, she would say what she likes about it and didn't, she tryed on 3 dress and found hers. So there is hope for you smile03.gif

stacey... i think you'll be okay, but you may have to get something off the rack... not a bad option and sometimes cheaper. if it helps you at all, i tried to look at magazines and no particular dress or style really stood out to me. i just went and tried some on and found one that made me feel beautiful! i didn't go in with any pre-conceived notion about what i wanted, which i think can help sometimes! that way you're not so focused on THE dress and you can have an open mind about everything you try on! good luck!

i will be pretty MIA this week... my brother gets married on saturday and i'm both a bridesmaid and baking/decorating the wedding cake and i'm taking 1/2 the week off. keeping my mom from going nuts will probably be a full time job as it gets closer!

Just writing to vent for a few moments so please bear with me...

I was really excited last week to have made some headway with what I wanted to do for my centre pieces. So I went ahead and purchased some submersible lights from Floral Supply and had chosen these over the light ice cubes because they are longer lasting and have replaceable batteries which made up for the additional cost (over the ice cubes). Of course like a day after I put in my order I found the same lights a bit cheaper on another website but figured the difference wasn't too bad - less than $10 I think.

So today I was checking my credit card statement to see if these lights had even been shipped because I was having troubles tracking them online and I found out that rather than the $74 purchase that I thought would have been charged, it was actually $88!!!!!! So I emailed the company to find out why there was such a large difference, especially considering that their website states they would give notice of any difference in price prior to shipping. The only reply that I got was "if I'd read the shipping notes on the website" I would have seen that the shipping to Canada has to be manually calculated when the item is sent and the company is not in control of duty charges. No comment was made as to why I didn't receive any notice of what cost I was actually being charged for. I even wrote back to the company and said that to avoid confusion and frustration for their customers, they might want to be more clear about the calculation of their prices - ie. don't allow a total cost to be calculated on the first invoice or only allow CDN purchases over the phone. Haha, and I also told them that this was one case where my purchased items were definitely NOT worth the shipping and taxes, or the headache that this is now giving me.

And now because my purchase is already in transit, I'm basically stuck with the duty and tax costs, even if I wanted to cancel or return my order. And sadly, that order was for just twenty lights sad.gif

So I'm just hoping that these lights end up being AWESOME and are worth every penny that I'm paying for them. They had better look INCREDIBLE and make every single guest comment on them. LOL, okay that's asking a little much I know... but it would make me feel better.

Ugh, sorry for the rant ladies... i needed to get it out of my system.

I hear you. They really should advise people about extra shipping charges before they apply them- I know a lot of companies will just email you to see if the difference is okay with you. It's frustrating to me when I see great stuff online for what seems to be a really good price, and then they either don't ship to Canada or charge so much for shipping that it's not worth it censored.gif On a plus note though- I ordered a cake topper from a vendor on Etsy last night and noticed that the exchange rate is still pretty good- we were at over 93 cents to the dollar when it was calculated for me last night! At least we're not trying to by things and getting nailed with 75 cents to the dollar like we were a few years ago.

I went through the same darn thing for my invites, I had ordered them from a USA site. Let me warn you about something, The price that you paid is allot, but when you go pick it up, or the people bring it do your door, they will ask you for more money. You still haven't paid the duty fee!!! which will probably cost you about $25-40

The company I bought the invites from never said anything to do with more money, I called them and said it wasn't up to them to let me know, they wouldn't even know how much it cost!! sooo frustrating, this is why I'm only looking for canada websites to order, tote bags, travel mugs.

sorry you had to go through that!!!sad.gif I really hope the lights are worth it, and you really like them!

Meghan - that sooooooooo sucks, and I'm sure there are a few of us that can totally relate!

I'm sure they will be sparkly and spectacular and if you want me to "secretly" email your entire guest list to make sure they all comment on the AMAZING centerpieces with the submersible lights I could totally arrange that for you!

You have to let us know when you get them! and show us pics of your centerpieces - have you fiddled around with any flowers yet, and have you found a supplier for real-touch, that website we were chatting about earlier doesn't ship to Canada :o(

Does anyone know how long Vistaprint.ca saves your documents for? I created a document and have been slowly working on it but I don't want to order it until I get a few more details finalized so I just want to make sure all the info I have already input doesn't get deleted!!

Suzy,

they will send you an e-mail saying it's you last chance for XX item. I think you'll be ok with working on it for awhile longer.

I've been working on the Brochures but it's hard to finalize anything when you have no idea when people will be arriving (I'd like to arrange a meet and greet, but I have no idea when this should be done since I have no rsvp's)

LOL your to funny, to send an e-mail to all of the guest to make sure they notice the lights. I love it!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
