Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

Thanks so much for your tips! I'm definitely going to get the ball rolling ASAP on confirming date availability. I think you're right though, I could probably be flexible on the day of the week, I'm sure my guests would at least make a long weekend out of it, so Friday or Sunday would be fine.

On a side note - you guys probably already know this, but if you or your guests are looking to make early travel reservations for 2010, Orbitz is having a 35% off sale for Dreams for travel from 1/1/10 - 12/31/10. It looks like you just have to book 90 days in advance. I was pricing packages from Cleveland (flight + hotel), and it was coming out to about $600 pp for 3 nights, which seems pretty good to me, it's a lot less than Expedia. You can only book up to the end of August right now though. Just thought I would share!

Thanks again for your help =) I'll keep you posted on what I decide to do. I'm sure I'll have tons of questions if i do end up going with Dreams!

Has the photography over there?
I am very excited about Dreams Canucn, everything that i have heard about it is amazing. There is alot included in the packages which makes them really nice. We are going with the ultimate package as it includes quite a bit, photography, videography, massages, mexican trio etc. and it is not that much more than the other package. There a lot of extras available, and depending on your group size some of them are important. We are getting the sound system for the ceremony (otherwise no one will hear you or the officiant in the wind) but we are not doing any extra decorations, or music or anything. We are going with the resort photographer, included in the package. I have heard good things about him and seen some good pictures. that being said, if photography is very important to you and you have the budget, alot of the ladies on here have hired claudia rodriguez (sp?) and have been very pleased.

Do you have any specific questions about the resort that we can answer for you?? There is alot of information in this thread, i know it is super long but it is deffinatley worth a read if you have the time! It took me a while but i am very glad i read every post in the thread, so many ideas and answers to questions i wouldn't even of thought of.

Anyways, let me know if there is any questions i can answer for you!!

Nadine, thanks for the info. Photo is very important to me, but I have a budget. Is there somewhere I could see pictures done by the resort photographer? I know we would rent the sound equiment for the reception for music, but I hadn't thought about for the ceremony. Is it possible to do the ceremony on the beach, but literally on the beach not in the gazebo thing they talk about? My other question is people, all the packages say 20 people, I'm wondering if we can have more at a per person charge. thanks again!

Here is a link to the wedding extras pricing. Cecilia sent me a booklet that lists all the extras, but unfortunatley I don't know how to post an attachment sad.gif This is basically the same thing.

Dreams Cancun Resorts & Spas: Wedding Extras

As for the photographer at the resort I think his name is Juan Navarro--you might want to double check, as i will not be using him but i believe i saw his name on here somewhere for being the dreams Cancun photographer-- and you can look at some of his work at

www.juanphotos.com

Hope this helps!

Happy Planning :) :)

Sound system for the ceremony is very important as it can be very windy at dreams and no one will be able to hear you ceremony. It really should be part of the wedding package. I believe its $180 for the ceremony. Depending on how big your group is, some ladies (myself included) are opting to an ipod and speakers for the receptions instead of hiring a DJ. Or you can again rent the sound system for i believe 180/hr for your reception and it comes with a guy to run your ipod or you can hire a dj, i believe the approved DJ for the resort is DJMannia.

It is possible to do the ceremony on the beach, there are some pictures on the website of some beach setups that are really nice. We have chosen the gazebo because it is gorgeous! I fell in love instantly.

Packages do come with 20pp but you can pay a per person charge for every extra person you have, the last i heard.. its about $98 a person (I may be wrong). The other thing to think about is that if you choose not to have a cocktail hour, many ladies have traded it for extra people at their reception (it think 10 extra). We are not using the cocktail hour because we want pictures with everyone coming (only 12 of us) so we are using ti as a welcome cocktail hour on the day after we arrive.

Lots fo things to think about!

Hi Nadine - question for you... Do you happen to know how far in advance you have to commit to a number of guests? I have a feeling I will have several people that drag their foot on booking, or even committing to coming. Do you have any idea when you have to sign the actual contract?

Thanks for your help =)

Maybe they are quoting the 2010 rates....seems like quite a hike in the price, but I think i'll try what Nadine mentioned and skip the cocktail hour in exchange for 10 more people at the reception since we are having over 30 extra guests that could get crazy expensive...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
