I believe Mango Weddings does the photography. I have seen their work and it's nice, I just didn't really like their packages. That it why I chose to bring a photographer in. I still have not heard back from the resort on this issue but hopefully will today.

This is the email I received from Daniela. It doesn't even make sense and she doesn't even finish some of her sentences. It does, however, state clearly that they're not going to honour our contract with Bradley Fraser:

Since September 29th,2009 are no longer permitted access to any outside vendor photo or video service, because Riu hotels have exclusive contract with Mango Production for photography & video service. By this way we can guarantee a better service of these

Moreover, we must consider that in 2010 the wedding package does not include these as part of such services. As our exclusive photographers themselves not competitive harm our photography company that is generating revenue for the hotel and are willing to give quality service you deserve, according to your requests

External provenders are not allow to come to the resort at least ARE GUEST OF THE HOTEL- has a room booked at least on the wedding day and be part of your 80% of guest required to get married at Riu Hotels properties.(External provender means photographer, videographers, florist, DJ´s and others payed directly by the client not the one offered on our list of extras)

We made an exception only for the wedding of October and November that he have knowledge of this situation, because the time were to close and was only one wedding with Bradley Fraser

Wow - I certainly would go up the chain of command and challenge this decision. If they want to change the rule for future brides booking after September 29, 2009, that's fair, but that's it. People book photographers a year in advance often with large nonrefundable deposits, for them not to honor that and make the rule effective immediately even for those that booked whwn you were allowed to bring in vendors is just wrong and I would argue they can't do it. Good luck to you in trying to resolve this.

Absolutely...I can't imagine that they can enforce this. It's one thing to say that no outside vendors are allowed going forward, but to apply it retroactively is just obscene. What is the governing Law of your contract? Mine is Flordia although the wedding is in the Bahamas. Does the contract say that outside vendors are NOT allowed? If not, I would argue that your e-mails are binding enforceable contracts. The only problem is that your contract likely has a provision stating that the contract constitutes the entire agreement between the parties. Argue that since the contract is silent as to this issue, that they are bound by your prior communications. Good luck!! URGH!!

I finally have recieved my response from the resort and have copied and pasted it below.

Thank you for considering RIU Hotels and Resorts for your wedding plans!

I am very glad to inform you that we have finally agreed with the Hotel that they will honor to bring your photographer paying the correspondent day pass.

I am sorry on the delay of this response but it was hard to get a final resolution on this matter.

I am cc to Daniela in order that she can tell you and re confirm that we are all on the same line.

Kindest Regards,

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
