Chocolate Brides: Hair Question

Recommended Posts

I had a bad experience with them years ago and since then I vowed to never get them again. It could have been the person who did them or something I did taking them out but my edges came out and it just turned me off from them years ago so that's my issue with micro's. I do agree they are a good option and sometimes people can't even tell you have braids. Now post wedding, I plan to haveone of my friends or somebody throw some cornrows in my hair and be done with it for the honeymoon.

That is true, micro braids can cause breakage if they are done too tight especially around the edges. Ive worn micros, cornrows, kinky twists, invisibles braids, pretty much all braid styles while I was transitioning to natural hair and never had any problems. Keep in mind that any time you wear a protective style such as braids or an install (sew in), your hair will shed naturally as it would daily without the style.

Invisible braids are different than micros, and thats what worked for me on my wedding day, heres a few pics of my hair:

Greetings Ladies,

I'm going to get braids for my natural hair. I've been natural for 3 years. I have a huge afro.

The flower is my staple hair accessory:

So, I'm going with a no-fuss, water friendly hairstyle--wet & Wavy/curly Braids.

If I wasn't planning on getting in the water, I would consider this hairstyle:

This is what I did to my hair when I got married 8 years ago:

Right now I'm leaning towards getting invisible braids or a weave and have it styled on the island. I'm really picky when it comes to my hair and don't want to have to worry too much about someone not styling my hair the way I like it.

Divadivine I love how your hair turned out. I just need to find a good hair braider or weaver.

Thank you Sheree!

Thats exactly what I did. I had my hair braided a few days before we left and was even able to do a hair trial before we left with my regular stylist and had pics to show the ladies at the spa at the Riu.

I'm still up in the air about what I'm doing with my hair. I will say that I kept micros in my hair during my permed to natural hair transition and I didnt really have probs eith breakage (well the normal stuff but nothing excessive)

I think I'm using my loc loops to get curls and just pulling my hair to the side with curls for the wedding. The only issue is that I plan to be partying in San Juan and then on the ship the night before the wedding so I don't know how long I'll be able to have my loc loops in. And they need at least 8-10 hrs in my opinion to set. We'll see what happens... I wanna do something with crystals in my hair as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
