Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Adrianne, I had problems getting a head count and guest commitment. I had guests that said they would come when I sent the invites but then ended up not booking for different reasons (mostly for financial reasons, some because of piggy flu). My guest count went from like 40 to 60 then finally back down to 30. It was frustrating but you kind of just have to go with the flow.

Adrianne, I'm on the April 2010 thread and there are at least a few girls there having troubles with getting people to book too, wedding parties included. It seems to be that people are very non-committal right now and for all of us I really hope that after the holidays it will be easier for people to plan. I think that six-eight months seems far away for everyone but those of us getting married!! I didn't really do official STD's so I am just sending out invites now (and don't worry I'll post pictures on the weekend for everyone!) but also planning to send out reminder cards to everyone in mid January. I think if your invites are going out around then as you said, it will be a good time for everyone to start getting their act together finally!!

I just heard from Jacy the other day and she's going to speak with the food & bev. manager and the chef to see what menu options would be available for the cheaper entree meals. I can let you know what she gets back to me with if you'd like?!

Ginalyn - piggy flu.... LOL! That's totally what I call it too but hearing it from someone else is still somehow more funny.

I'm thinking about holding my wedding at the Dreams Puerto Aventuras in April 2010. I have heard it is a beautiful resort, however I was warned by my Destination Wedding consultant that the Dreams resorts were unorganized, slow to respond, and in fact had a bride show up only to find the hotel didnt know about her wedding after several emails. Obviously I want a great wedding... can anyone put my mind at easehuh.gif?... the hotel & prices look great, but unsure about the wedding part!

Hi j9! Welcome to the DPA thread! If you've got the time to read through the many, many pages here I'm sure you'll find lots of great reviews of the resort. I can't comment on everything that your consultant told you, but the note that you get slow responses from the wedding coordinator (WC) onsite seems to be a fairly common concern and partial reality.

At DPA there are two main coordinators, Jacy & Sandra, who many girls here have dealt with more than I have. The general trend seems to be that you get a slower reply by email when your wedding is still months out, but the closer it gets the faster the email reply. I've also called to ask them a few questions when I felt that I just couldn't get any further without having an answer. I think the important thing to keep in mind there is just how many brides are flooding the WC's with emails combined with having the actual weddings to pull off each day. With a little patience, it really isn't too much of a wait and they are just a phone call away!

I hope you are able to settle your mind once you've heard from the other girls here too. And I can tell you that I am VERY excited for my wedding at DPA in April!

bridej9 - Speaking from experience (I got married at DPA this past June), I must say that I was VERY pleased with the way my wedding turned out. Like Meghan (echo) said, take the time to read the pages of info on this thread and trust me your mind will be put to ease about DPA cheesy.gif Good luck with your decision, and if you have any questions along the way we are here for you! I have not heard from any DPA brides that have been unhappy.

bridej9....I absolutely ditto what the past posters have said!! I'm actually leaving in less than a month for our wedding at DPA so I'll have more info then, but overall my experience has been positive...and my fiance and I went to visit the resort when we first got engaged just over a year ago and it's gorgeous!!! We met Jacy and she is super sweet in person. Let us know if you have any questions and best of luck!!!!

Meghan and Ginalynn, thanks for sharing your guest booking experiences. Go w/ the flow... go w/ the flow... I'll try and make it my montra.

Bridej9-Possibly your wedding coordinator was referring to when the resort first opened. The first bunch of post on this thread are also from when the resort first opened as Dream. They've been open over a year now and it seems as though they've worked the kinks out and hired a second wedding coordinator.

P.S. Meghan, I'd love to hear any thing Jacy finds out for you about the cheaper entree options. To be honest, I still haven't contacted Jacy. I've gotten all my questions answered through you girls and my travel agent. Thank you all so much :)

Hi girls!

I'm down to 32 days so starting to freak out a bit!!

For those of you who already got married at DPA, did you take anything for the reception as far as decorations go?! I asked this probably 8 or 9 months ago but since we've had lots of ladies get married since then I thought I would ask again....

Also, any advice? We have 65 people coming and I am starting to get a bit nervous...I feel like all of our family/friends' vacation is in our hands!! I know it's technically not, but I want to make sure everything runs smoothly! I just emailed Jacy a ton of questions!! Hope to hear back from her very soon...thanks for listening!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
