oh, that is hillairious! We, too, have been trying to figure out how to have a Karaoke party to have as part of our dress rehearsal dinner. We have a mic, but probably would have to rent the equipment from the hotel. You can probably check ebay out for those magic mike karaoke systems that has the songs on a chip in the mic and buy an extra mic.

Has anyone actually obtained one from a store in P.V.? Since we don't know Carlos and our wedding is not in P.V. proper, we are stuck going the retail route. If anyone has personally verified that a machine can be found at Walmart or Costco or Sam's in P.V., we'd love to know. (And do memberships at Costco work at any location?)

There's also a little knock-off place in Plaza Caracol that sells Karaoke machines that would probably be quite a bit cheaper - so you might head there and just poke around (if you have the time).

Mishka,
Can you tell me something about this Sam's Club? Do they have typical things like candles, fake flower things, glass vases, etc? (just in case, my mom and I might make a run over there when we arrive....) I want to use glass frames to put pics of my FI and I in on the guest book table, and I don't want to travel with anything glass and breakable.

Thanks!
ps....I'm still ordering my maracas from you in Nov!!! so excited!

I'm so sorry! I didn't see this post until today! Sam's Club .... they don't or you might get lucky and they might, to be honest. Decorating stuff is very random in Puerto Vallarta - it's partially because we are a resort town and partially because we are in Mexico but decorating is considered a "luxury" so, if there are decorating items, they are usually $$$ and not found in the "normal" venues like they are in the States or CAnada (like Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco, Target (we don't have a target, just saying)). My recommendation would be to bring your own glass frames and put them in a carry-on for you on the plane - that's what I do when I'm bringing things down that I don't want to get broken.

Now, the candles and fake flowers can be found at "perlita" which is our version of "michaels" but soooo not like michaels ... think michaels back during the wild wild west but a lot less organized. There are several Perlitas downtown. :)

And someone asked about a Costco card .... we used our Costco card in Canada, so I'm pretty sure your Costco card would work down here.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
