About this blog

Planning a destination wedding is not the easiest thing in the world. However, when it’s something you’ve been dreaming about for long, it’s definitely very exciting and fulfilling, especially since it’s all about your big day. My dream destination wedding was in Sydney, Australia, and even with constant time-consuming and stressful tasks on my checklist, I have to say that if I could do it all over again, I most definitely would. But, we all need a bit of help, which is precisely why I want to share some tips on this.

Find the perfect place

I hope that everyone thinking about their destination wedding already has some specific places in mind. For me and my partner, that was Sydney, as we wanted the exotic nature of a tropical climate as well as the modern aspect and a range of entertainment possibilities that the city provides. In case you haven’t found your perfect place, it’s important to consider your budget, your guest list as well as your own preferences when it comes to your dream wedding. There is plenty of helpful advice online, but in the end, you’re the one who has to make a choice.

Think about your guests

You always have to think about your guests when planning a wedding, but this is especially important for a destination wedding. After all, you’ll be the one responsible for accommodating everyone who can and wants to come to celebrate this day with you. What’s more, coming up with your guest lists and sending invitations has to be done a lot earlier when it comes to destination weddings compared to the regular weddings at your local community. Essentially, you have to get the reply from the people invited so that you know for sure who’s coming, and the final number of guests.

Preplan and organize

It can be rather challenging to plan everything for your wedding day when you’re not even there. Of course, there are plenty of wedding services that can help you with this and are experienced in destination weddings. Luckily, finding these services and venues when your wedding destination is Sydney is relatively simple, due to the city’s popularity as a wedding destination. Therefore, don’t forget to book and check everything you normally would as if you were getting married at home.

For starters, you can virtually tour the venues and talk to the caterers, musicians, suppliers, photographers, etc. online. You’ll also want to make a grand wedding entry and exit, which is why car rental is a must. I can recommend Queen St Hire wedding car rental wholeheartedly. Of course, you should still travel to the destination a couple of days before the big day in order to make sure everything is fine and take care of the last details firsthand.

Transporting the wedding dress

Not many people think about this when they organize their destination wedding. However, when you’re the bride, your wedding dress and shoes are pretty important. I expect that most brides-to-be will get their dress, shoes and accessories at home before travelling to the wedding destination. So, it’s obvious that you’ll have to transport these items but make sure they stay in perfect condition. My advice to you is to bring your dress on the plane and then ask the airline to hang it up. What’s more, bring your shoes and other accessories on the plane with you as well in a carry-on, so that you’re positive they won’t get lost or damaged.

Finally, the best advice I can give you is to have fun with your destination wedding. For me, my partner, and our family and friends, Sydney presented a new experience that allowed us to explore the city’s attractions and find enjoyment in the smallest of things. And that’s the tip I want you to remember – destination wedding offers a lot more than just one day of celebration.
