Anyone know the current day pass rate at Melia? I have booked Pastor Rick myself and the WC said it was OK but she didn't say what they would charge to bring him in.

Is anyone using Pastor R at Melia Caribe Tropical and know what their price is to include him and if they have to do the booking? I am presuming since they are the same group as Paradisus is will be a similar deal.

Have you looked into doing the ceremony and reception offsite? There are two venues that I know of - Jellyfish and Kukua Beach Club. Both have websites if you google them and will detail the costs.

I would be interested in the answer to this too. Don't have much choice but a 6pm ceremony last week in May. Is it going to be completely dark - sunset is good - not sure I want complete darkness!

I just discovered this hotel too and am waiting for a reply on the cost of their basic wedding package - since we won't have enough guests joining us to get us the free package. Were you given a quote on that? I am too impatient to wait for a response from the hotel - most of them really take their time in responding!

That is probably what we are going to do. May have 2 guests as witnesses! I am looking at two hotels that have free weddings if you book the room upgrade. Sol Melia Tropical and Dreams La Romano

Hi, If you don't mind I have a couple of questions as I am going through the same dilema. I would really like just one ceremony more just to have the one same legal date really. But how easy is it to get all the papers translated and notarised here in the US. As it is second time for both of us we also will have to get divorce papers done too. Just not even sure where I would start with all that. I know wedo.com provide that service but I am guessing it adds a fair amount to the cost. Do you mind me asking how much the translating notarising here in the US cost? Sol Melia is one of the hotels I am leaning towards, that or Dreams La Romana. Thanks!

Most people seem to be having big weddings even in DR. For us it is second time for both of us and it could be likely we will be doing it on our lonesome. Maybe a couple of guests - just not sure everyone will have the vacation time or the budget. My family is in UK and friends in US. I think at most maybe would have 10 guests but that is being hopeful! Either way I still want a nice hotel and nice location even if it is just for us - but because it is second time and don't want to spend a lot and wondering where would suit us best. Been looking at Dreams La Romana, Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace and in Punta Cana Sol Melia Caribe Tropical, Barcelo Bavaro Beach and Majestic Elegance. If it was just us I would opt for La Romana as I want to visit there - but also been looking at Punta Cana incase anyone else wants to join us so flights would be easier and cheaper on them. Anyone done solo wedding ceremonies or looking to do? Would really like to find somewhere with a free included ceremony since we don't need a big reception but most require x number of rooms booked to do that. I have tried making enquiries with some hotels but finding much the same as anyone here - no-one is fast to respond. Infact been waiting for Wyndham 4 weeks now. Not many must have's but would like a ceremony that would be legal in US and just somewhere nice for ceremony and pictures - without lots of gawking tourists! Would be even worse I think if it was just the two of us and everyone staring. I am also torn between some nice gazebo with the sea and blue sky for ceremony/photo's or having something at dusk on the beach with tiki torches. The latter has been my dream for a while but might regret missing out on great photo ops. Just wondered if anyone has done this type of wedding and had any advice? Thanks!
