She had also emailed me all of the information and had asked that I inform her of my choices. I guess I'm just starting to worry being that we're only 1 1/2 months away from the date =( Salon services are one of the things they do at the last minute. I just finished booking mine last week, and my wedding is in less than 2 weeks (my mom decided at the last minute to get her hair done.) The salon contact is Xochitl Esquivel Solis- xesquivel@palaceresorts.com. Good luck!!
  2. Hi ladies, I have been MIA for awhile because my computer has been acting weird and wouldn't let me access the forum... also work has been crazy. (Hello, I'm getting married in 8 weeks, could we lay off the new projects, please?) I am freaking out a little and have a couple of questions. 1) We decided on a plated dinner, and I just found out from Claudia yesterday that we can't have multiple choices. We need to pick one soup, salad and entree. I don't know what to pick!! If you had a plated dinner, please tell me what you chose! I want to pick something that most people will enjoy. 2) We are just doing the Catholic ceremony, so we have to get married in the U.S. first. If anyone else has done this, did you just go to the courthouse or something? Thanks!! Everyone's pics and reviews from while I was gone are AMAZING!!
  3. Thanks, Sharla! Your review was great and your pics are gorgeous!! I am so excited now Sorry you had so many check-in problems, but we are pretty much expecting that to happen. Thanks for the tip on the hair, you looked AMAZING!
  4. Thanks for the ideas, everyone... I think actually most people are coming on the same day (Thursday) because I TOLD them to... stupid me. Also, we are not booking any rooms through the resort because I didn't want to sign an additional contract. I have a totally crappy and useless travel agent and a lot of people are making their own arrangements. So that doesn't help... this is such a hot mess.
  5. Crap, crap, crap! I just found out from Maribel that we are not allowed to use the dinner that was included in our wedding package for a rehearsal or welcome dinner because we have too many people coming (like 50 ish) and they will only accommodate more than 35 if it is the actual "wedding dinner." How am I supposed to get all of these people together at some point for a dinner? I feel bad bringing them all to Mexico and then not having a welcome dinner or at least a reception dinner... UGGHHH... has anyone else run into this and what did you do?
  6. For whatever reason, being a Palace Premier member gets you no perks. They made that clear to me as soon as I booked. I think maybe we would have used another resort if I would have known that, but live and learn!
  7. <quote>Do you know when I am allowed to choose my gazebo and terrace for our cocktail reception</quote> I'm pretty sure you can do that after you sign the contract. I would do it as soon as you can, because the spaces book up. We ended up getting a different ballroom than the one I originally chose because I screwed around for a few weeks too long!
  8. I hate to encourage people to be annoying like I was, but as I have said before, I got my on-site WC early because I was such a pain. (Probably 2 months ago, which would have been about 6.5 months from the wedding.) I was dealing with Carolina Lopez in Miami, and I think after awhile she just got tired of answering questions that were not her problem. I'm now dealing with Maribel Blancarte in Cancun, and she is pretty good with responding to e-mails, although we are having some "lost in translation" issues. I have tried e-mailing her in English and Spanish and still she's NOT getting it!
  9. You ladies have been POST-CRAZY again... I have a lot of catching up to do. A question while I am thinking of it... is anyone using the "included" dinner for a rehearsal dinner? Will they even do a rehearsal for my Catholic ceremony?
  10. It's an additional fee... how much I can't remember. I know for the reception in general you end up paying 1.5 times the original price per table or something... I probably should leave this to someone who has the documents in front of them

I was just informed we would be having our ceremony at the chapel gazebo with cocktail at the chapel garden. I was thinking we were able to choose - oh well! I am sure it is great. I just wanted to see more details than what the website provided. I will also go back and look at all posts. I just found out the same thing (cocktail @ chapel garden.) It looks really pretty, though. I have a couple of pics if you would like them!

I have mine already and I am 5 months out... she contacted me out of nowhere after I started asking a lot of questions of the Miami girls. I booked in October so maybe they are just sick of dealing with me already
  13. Sharla, I love your color scheme, everything looks great! You make me want to start some DIY projects The ribbon-wrap thingy on the flowers is awesome... I'm sure it has some fancy "wedding" name but I am not that savvy! Good luck with everything
  14. When I first started going to Cancun 10 or 12 years ago, you could still smoke freely in the airport... I am a smoker and even I thought that was a little much. Sure, I am always really ready for a "butt" after I get off a plane, but people were lighting up in the line for customs and throwing their butts on the floor in these tight quarters. Gross!
  15. I don't know a lot about the resorts you're considering, but I know in the Palace Resorts system you can basically smoke anywhere. We were laughing when we saw the reception set-ups with ashtrays on all of the tables.
