I'm still keeping everything crossed that the resort opens soon and no one else's weddings will get moved! I was quoted an extra $400 to get orchids for my bouquet plus extra for boutonnieres etc. They are apparently hard to get.
  2. Hi everyone. I only posted a few of my pictures with my review & have kept meaning to post more but just never got around to it. Here we are now, 9 months after the wedding - but I guess it's better late than never right?? Here's the link to my "MyPublisher" photo book. It's a mixture of the resort photographer photos & photos that my brother in law took. I know a lot of you are specifically interested in photos done by the resort photographer so I'll try & list out what's what. - My getting ready was done by the Resort Photographer, my husband's getting ready was done by BIL - The ceremony is a mixture of both - All of the candids of the guests were done by BIL - Posed group & family shots (p20 & p22) and posed B&G shots (p25 - p28 ) were done by the resort photographer - Covershot was also Resort photog. - The rest of the shots from P 29 on were done by BIL MyPublisher | View your Photo Book, share and reorder.
  3. Great thread Sunbride! I don't know how you make the time to do all this but it's nice to have somebody organizing it all!!! Here's some additional info on my wedding details -just in case I can help a Dreams Bride..... I'll also try to post some additional pics of my wedding (things like my ceremony set up etc as it's not in the wedding guide). I've been meaning to do it for a while but I'm in the middle of a move to a different province, so my life has been a bit of a zoo for the last several months. Username: donandcorri Date & Time: November 23, 2007 Ceremony 3:00pm, Cocktails 5:00pm Dinner/Reception 6:00pm Wedding package: Ultimate Wedding extras (and cost charged): I only requested some extra flowers & was not charged for any of them. 2 extra boutonnieres (sp), 1 BM bouquet & 1 Hair Flower (got 2). I did notice that I didn't get the flower arrangment on the table at the ceremony so maybe they substituted without really discussing it with me. I was fine with it so whatever! Type of ceremony: Civil Coordinator: Sandra & Landy (I communicated with both prior to the wedding, dealt with Sandra @ the resort & both assisted me on the wedding day - I was a lucky girl & was the only wedding on that day!) Number of guests: 17 Ceremony location: Gazebo next to Seaside Grill Reception location: Wine Cellar in Portofino (was actually supposed to be on the beach beside Seaside Grill but weather didn’t cooperate – we hadn’t discussed a backup plan & I was extremely impressed with how quickly they rearranged everything) Photographer: resort photographer 36 5x7 pics in an album free with package + 350$ for CD of all 200 Videographer: resort videographer Review: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t12201 Dreams425 & Ashjanbro: You can schedule the resort photographer to shoot for as long as you need but I believe I was entitled to approx 2 hours with the Ultimate package & would have had to pay extra for over & above that. You don't actually choose how many pictures you get until after the wedding. Our photos were ready for viewing the next morning and we selected & paid for them then. We ended up only getting the prints that were included in our package & then just paid for the CD with all shots. I did request some getting ready shots but ended up with only a few so you'll need to be very specific about your expectations as the photographer only showed up maybe 10-15 minutes before I was to walk down the aisle.

  5. Sunbride - congrats! I can't wait to see pictures. It seems like it's been such a long time since the last Dreams Tulum wedding....... I definitely agree that Sandra & Landy go the extra mile with any special requests. There was definitely not any of the nickle & diming you seem to hear so much about on these boards. They accommodated all of my requests with no questions asked. None of my flowers, cake or ceremony set up were in the book but they took care of it with no extra charges.

I sent one picture & Sandra quoted me $400 for the bouquet plus extra for the boutonnieres & corsages (she explained that it was difficult to get what I was asking for). The 2nd picture I sent, she said no problem - I didn't pay anything over my package price. She actually didn't even charge me for the extra flowers we ordered (BM bouquet, hair flower & extra boutonnieres).

My guests are only staying for about 3 days and I would like some idea of what would be really great for them to do! If you are only doing a symbolic ceremony do you still get some sort of certificate or anything? I think we are going to get married in the states before we leave!? I have tons on my mind if you can't tell!!!! I'm pretty sure that you get to choose when to do your photos. The entire CD of pictures cost us approx $350USD. My husband & I stayed in separate rooms the night before the wedding but I did kind of see him in the a.m. as there was a little mixup and we both ended up at the buffet at the same time for breakfast.. I recommend the Tulum ruins. You can do a bike tour from the resort or take the bikes on your own - probably not the best route for everyone as the bikes only had one gear and could be pretty difficult to pedal at times. It's about a $7 cab ride and $4 entrance fee - a pretty inexpensive excursion. The ruins are beautiful and you can take time to enjoy the beach & ocean there. Take some time to search the forums and read through past postings- there are lots of Dreams brides on here. I'm sure you'll find answers to all your questions and more! We're also a pretty friendly group - so ask away!!

Did you all just use the bouquet that came with your wedding package? Send pictures prior to going to Mexico - it doesn't have to be now if your wedding is in October but definitely do it before you leave. I sent a picture of my first choice for flowers (Orchids) and Sandra emailed me back saying that this would cost an extra $400USD - I was definitely glad to have found that out before I left so I had time to rethink my choice. I also brought all of my inspiration pictures with me to Mexico.

I wasn't too impressed with the selection in the wedding guide so I sent Sandra some pictures. My bouquet was almost identical to the picture of what I wanted. I didn't have a bright & vibrant bouquet so I won't post the pics here. My flowers were all white.
  11. I second the Vodka a la Penne - I make my sauce a little differently though.... INGREDIENTS 1/2 cup butter 1 onion, diced 1 cup vodka 2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes 1 pint heavy cream (this is the base recipe and then I play with the spices, fresh basil, oregano & garlic are key) DIRECTIONS In a skillet over medium heat, saute onion in butter until slightly brown and soft. Pour in vodka and let cook for 10 minutes. Mix in crushed tomatoes and cook for 30 minutes. Pour in heavy cream and cook for another 30 minutes.
  12. Blind Melon is playing in San Juan Capistrano on the 3rd of May- I've already bought tickets for my husband's birthday present. They're also playing in San Diego on the 4th so I might surprise him with tickets to see that show too as we already plan on being in San Diego for that day. He's pretty excited as he thought he would never be able to see them live.
  13. Thanks everyone for your ideas & tips. I checked out Fabiolus & it looks great! I'm going to try to convince my husband to go to Wicked then we'll make reservations for dinner there before. He's not that into broadway shows but he's getting tickets to a Dodger's/Mets game and going to 1 possibly 2 shows to see one of his favourite bands play so I think I have some bargaining power......

So just double check that it is a dead weekend unless you are flying BTW there are some excellent desert outlets along the way to Vegas so if you are driving and want to shop, save your shopping for there! Desert Hills Premium Outlets Oh my........ A trip to the outlets might end up in divorce - I'd need to hit every store & my husband would lose his mind! Thanks for the tip on driving to Vegas - I'll be sure to check out the events before we make a final decision.
  15. Thanks everyone! We love Italian & Mexican food so any tips on good restaurants would be fantastic. We both love beautiful scenery & historic buildings. I'm a prairie girl so ocean & beaches are a must - I'd love to be able to stroll along a boardwalk. I'm interested in Hollywood but would like the "insider" story - what to see & what to not bother with (I love old movies). I am also considering dragging my husband to see "Wicked" - is it worth it?? We've pretty much settled on San Diego, LA & Las Vegas in order to keep it simple. If it gets to be too much, I might push to drop Vegas so we can experience more in and around LA & San Diego.
