Royal Playa del Carmen vs Royal Cancun?

Recommended Posts

Hi there...

Wondering if anyone has been to either of these hotels? We are getting married in April 08 at the Paradisus Riviera Cancun and will move to another resort for a couple of days for a mini-moon after our guests leave. We've liked the look/cost of these two resorts and think we'll book one or the other.

Any input?

Thanks!

Claire

Thanks! I was leaning that way but just couldn't decide. All of the reviews that I have read said that the beach was better at the Royal PDC but that the service was better at the Royan Cancun, and that the facilities are great at both, but a little more luxurious in Cancun. I guess it sounds like I would be happy with either!

Not sure which Royal you mean in Cancun. MJ and I were there for vacation a while back and noticed that there were two hotels named "the Royal". We were even told that the new one might get a lawsuit due to it.... We were at the new one. If that is the one you are thinking of, please let me know and I will give you feedback.

Since you're having your wedding in Cancun, you should definately move to Playa del Carmen. It's just a whole different vibe. I personally did not like Cancun that much (other than the awesome beaches) because it was all just big resorts, whereas Playa has that small beach town feel to it, with lots of little shops and restaurants - great for walking around. Really depends on what you want though, but yea, if you will be in Cancun for the wedding, I recommend moving to Playa for the honeymoon.

I think both resorts look lovely (and have good reviews) and it depends on where you want to be - Cancun or Playa del Carmen - for your honeymoon. We're getting married at the Royal Playa del Carmen... I love that it's only a block away from the main shopping street, and from all that I've heard/read Playa del Carmen is a cute town w/ great restaurants and shopping... important for me b/c I can't do the beach/pool thing all day (although, of course, Cancun would also have a lot going on!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
