Hotel Marina El Cid BRIDES

Recommended Posts

We have lots of kids under 14 coming too, but I read that there is a kids menu option and we are going to have enough people staying in the platinum suites to get the complimentary dinner for all of our guests.  I just love the photos I've seen of the tables set up on the beach so figured its the one time I can do something like this.  That being said, my fiance went to destination wedding where it was more casual and they just had a section roped off in the buffet, he said it was awesome.  That was a the sunset princess.

This is a second marriage for me, plus we are going to do a reception back at home (MN) a few months after the wedding. Thanks for sharing the casual experience at a destination wedding...I'm wanting stress free and not spending a fortune for dinner guests. I filled out a wedding form for Deyanira yesterday asking for options other than the set ones on the sheet she sent me. Will have to see what she comes back with ...

Hi Mel24

I haven't really done any wedding planning for a while, but we finally signed the contract with the el cid and decided to go with the elite package as we have enough guests upgrading to platinum to cover the cost of the banquet.   We have 23 rooms in our group booked so far with probably another 10 or so to go.   Deyanira just confirmed she got our deposit and also introduced me to her assistant, Melina, who I guess will be taking over the day to day planning with me.  I probably won't make any major decisions until after the summer as I still have over 9 months to go, but I'm going to ask her for price lists and decor options.

Just a quick update, we've decided to go with an external photographer for our wedding and have found this local Playa del Carmen photographer whose style I just fell in love with http://deansandersonweddings.com/2013/02/wedding-timelines/.  While the resort photographer's photos seem nice (http://positive.com.mx/en/), the prices are failry similar between the two but we just don't want to end up with mediocre photos because we are having a destination wedding.

Also, our photographer has a blog that includes some extremely helpful tips/suggestions for destination weddings.

Hi Ladies!

I'm looking at the Marina El Cid for my destination wedding this January 2015 as we've just had to change our wedding plans.  I would love to have the ceremony on the jetty and the reception and dancing on the beach and was wondering how pricey this got for people who did it.  Is there a disco on the resort that we could go to instead of having a private dance floor set up  the cost for sound, lights, and dancefloor, not including a dj seemed very high.  I don't know if I can convince anyone to upgrade to platinum so we're assuming we're getting nothing for free and paying for everything ourselves... Probably 30 people, 15 rooms for us.  Has anyone checked if you get a free banquet if it's a regular room but they stay 7days each instead of 3.

Thanks so much for any help and I hope everyone has had beautiful weddings here!

Hi BDW members...I recently booked our wedding for Marina El Cid for May 2015, and wanted to see if you have any experience/recommendations with the resort....

1) How is the salon on site for wedding day makeup & hair?

2) Do you have any menu suggestions?

3) Did you have a symbolic wedding? How was your experience?

4) Would you do anything differently?

5) I am having our reception in the garden, but read there were a lot of bugs...Did anyone have a bad experience with this? We want to do beach, but they close at 9pm in May due to the turtle mating season. Is there another place on the resort we could continue the party. I heard the Marina restaurant is open late?

6) What was your schedule like for the ceremony & reception. I hired a DJ and we plan to have dancing, but then I am torn b/c of the time the beach closes. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks everyone :-D

Hey all!  making a bit of progress with our wedding, we decided to go ahead and book the resort DJ (thanks to advise from previous BDW bride) and are going with a set up on the beach similar to the attached (which Melina sent me).

Also, some exciting new! My fiance decided to surprise me with a quick trip down to Mexico to check out the resort before the wedding (he got a good deal on bookit.com)! So we are going to meet with Melina, the DJ and our photographer while we are there.  Melina told me there are 3 weddings scheduled while we are there so we can look at the different set-up of each.  I am also hoping to try some of the menu items while we're there.

Hi brides,

We are going to have our wedding at Marina el cid resort in few days. We had send three emails to the resort photograph and we were not able to receive response. We were nervous to don't have any more informations from them few weeks before the wedding. We began to look the comments on internet and we found Octavio Montes he is a wedding photograph that takes pictures in riviera maya and Cancun area. His pictures are wonderful and we were able to receive Quick response from him. You could consult his site at www.octaviomontes.com

Also, he is giving 10%off for the brides photography! We are happy to have found him! We will review about his services after the wedding! Also, about the services that we will receive at the Marina el cid.

Hey everyone!! I'm tagging into this to try and get the most information I can. Ive been working with my TA for over a month now and I finally decided I was going to lock in a location until some of my guest stated they didn't believe the location I wanted would accommodate their budget for traveling. Sharing this info. with my TA he suggested El Cid. and Ive been able to go over some TripAdvisor  reviews and some images but very very little on information for weddings. Even on here... I don't know if i should take that as a good thing or a bad thing?? :( I was able to hear about a tour one of the current brides did and she loved the place. Anyone have any further info on the actual weddings at this location ?

Is the resort very small when you constantly feel like your on top of each other ?

Food choices good? Any extras charged for wines, steak and lobsters ?

ceremony locations?

Rain back up locations?

How is the Jetty Set up ? it seems very narrow from the images with guest on each side.. any limitations on # of people for it?

Any idea of outside vendor fees? for dj, photographer

Cost for private events -- Could a welcome dinner or cocktail party be organized and held here?

The reception venue locations?

Rain back up location ?

Any honey moon extras? - Breakfast in bed following wedding day? Turn down service? Romantic dinners on the beach ?

Any information I can get will be amazing!! Thank you so much!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
