Anyone get married here? Visited?

It seems nice based on all the websites but I am still on the fence about Mexico. I am mostly considering it due to cost (everyone will be flying from CA or CO) but I really don't want to spend the week fighting off vendors on the beach. Aahhhhh......

We went to Isla de Mujeres in 05 and it was very pretty. However, it is very very different than the bigger cities in Mexico. It was right after the hurricanes so a lot of the beach fronts had been wiped out. That area got hit pretty hard.

I personally did not see it as a good wedding spot. I think it would be a nice honeymoon location since it is more private. It seemed like it would be difficult to get everything over to the island from Cancun....but if you want something really private and low key that would work well. There was no night life and it seemed everything shut down very early. We stayed for about 5 nights after 5 nights in Akumal which we absolutely loved....and would go back there before we ever went back to Isla.......

Just giving my honest opinion....blush2.gif

I appreciate the honesty. It's what I need. I want something a bit more quiet than cancun but not a place that shuts down at dusk. I don't want our families to be bored since we are essentially making them go where we want.

I feel like everytime I think about or read about a new destination I want that. Haha. smile41.gif Most just aren't practical (or in our budget)

Are there some other RM locations that fall somewhere between Cancun And Isla Mujeres?

Have you checked into Playa del Carmen?? I love that town.

I agree with Jaime on this one. Playa would be the closest to a middle ground. Depending on if you stay right in town or just outside of town it can be really lively or nice and relaxed. Most of the other towns down that way don't have much in the way of nightlife, but Playa definitely comes alive at night in a somewhat more low key way than Cancun.

You could also check out Cozumel. It's an island across from Playa. It is not as lively as Playa, but I understand it is definitly livelier then the Isla de Mujeres.

I chose EDR, which is just outside the town Pureto Moreles, which is about 15 minutes north of Playa. Pureto Moreles looks like a cute little fishing village. It does have some restaurants and has some other activities to do there. I don't know what type of accomodations you are looking for, but there is lots of resorts or villas to rent in the area.

Good luck researching!

Agains other coments in this thread, I will highly recomend a wedding in Isla Mujeres, actually it was our first option, but bu ended in a different location due to the group of people we are bringing and the things we want to do.

BUT, I have shot lots of weddings in Isla and I LOVE LOVE it.

As for activities for your guests, the snorkeling and boating, and fishing is awesome...

I can recomend 3 different places & wedding coordinators:

Zama Beach Club, the BEST!!! This is a big beautiful place, awesome beach, a pier, a palapa, a wonderful pool... is really really my number #1 favorite location for a great wedding..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
