Does anyone know how windy is it there?

I'm not exactly sure where the white gazebo is, across from the chapel, right? But anyways, I have seen cocktail parties and receptions that are on the beach/sand have very high winds (this was when I was there this March). I did see one reception that was at the gazebo across from the chapel on a very windy night and I would not have wanted that reception to be mine, that's for sure. I want the beach experience so that's why I'm doing it for the ceremony and cocktail party, but moving inward for the reception. You just never know what the day is going to be like, some nights are very windy and some are very calm. Even on windy nights I don't think there is an issue with blowing sand, but more like flapping table cloths and blowing hair styles! Guess I would rather guests be too hot and have to step away for the breeze than be blown away by the wind.

Thanks for all of the advice I've been receiving here ladies :)

It's next to the saltwater pool. Okay, I think I'll stick with Tucanes. Thanks so much for the help! Unfortunately the budget didn't allow for a trip down there to check it out, so this has been so helpful! Thanks Kelseyrenee and everyone else!

I don't think you'll be sorry about Tucanes vs. the White Gazebo.

I'm going down in a few weeks, and would be happy to take fresh photos if there's anything y'all would like to see. Just let me know!

I'm getting married the week before you and I have Gazebo 55 and Tucanes as well lol. I don't think I'll be there when you are though. At the request of many of our friends we'll probably be moving resorts that Monday to something a bit cheaper. I haven't figured out where yet. lol That way people can stay an extra week.

I got married at the white Gazebo and it was windy around are ceremony that started at 5pm, but not sand blowing windy and it was nice breeze,it felt wonderful. Then our reception was at tucanes and it was not to hot, but that depends on what your wearing and how warm you get and the temp. that day. Hope that helps.

I am expecting about 30-35 guests and am getting a DJ because I want to dance... but I don't want to sweat! Wedding date is April 24, 2014. I was at EDR is March this year and it would not have been too hot at that time but I'm afraid of the end of April.

I originally picked Toucanes because it's not terribly far from my ceremony and cocktail party at Gazebo 55 and figured it would protect against wind or rain.

Any input is appreciated!

We got married in early May 2012, had our rehearsal dinner at Toucanes and our reception at Salon Dorado... I regret not having our reception at Toucanes!!! We had 42 guests and I felt like the Salon Dorado was a big space for our group. I even did tables of 6 to spread everyone out, and it just seems too big. Everyone in Tucanes was the perfect size.

We wanted to have a/c which is why we went with the indoor reception, but people were in and out of the doors so much that the little a/c the few units were putting out, quickly disipated. I think the resort didnt turn on the a/c to that room until right before our ceremony because it was super warm in there. Granted I had a rouched silk mermaid dress so there wasnt a lot of room to breathe/sweat, but I was melting. We would have been definitely happier outside.

I'm actually arriving on your wedding day! I'm staying from April 19 - 27, so we kind of end up with a honeymoon before the wedding. But it works well since most of our guests are coming in that Wednesday and leaving Sunday so we will be able to spend time with them after the wedding.

Thanks amanda 50388! I'm sure it says this somewhere....but I feel like I've read so many things! Is there a Mic included for the ceremony? If not, could your guests hear okay at the white gazebo?  Also, Did anyone pick the flower bb-04? I'm looking for some real life pictures of them rather than the planning website!

Thanks so much!

To give you an idea of how windy it is on the beach here is a picture I posted earlier... take a look at the table cloth behind us or the layers on my dress.  It is quite windy on the beach.   That being said, it is very nice being on the beach if you are planned for the wind.   I saw some receptions set up on the beach and it looked lovely.  The downside to beach reception areas is that the bathrooms can be a bit far away.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
