El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey Allie, who did you fly with and do you remember how far out you booked your flights? best to book early or closer? We're going next October and are curious since flights aren't available just yet.. Thanks! Nicole
We flew American. I think we booked about 9 months out. We have a TA who helped us tremendously! About the set up, they are doing everything for the $150. So don't sweat it before you get on site ladies. If anyone has questions about the resort, let me know!

AllieH...Glad you made it safely and everything went well en route!! Terribly sorry about your guests and the NY situation. Glad they are all ok. Question, were you able to stow your dress in a closet or did you have to hold it? I'm curious as to how that is going to work. I can't wait to see pictures, you must post ASAP!! What is the temperature there right now? I hope it stays gorgeous for your wedding day and everything goes as planned!!

AllieH...One more thing I am really curious about...I booked Beach Chapel Terrace Gazebo but after seeing that a majority of you girls picked Gazebo 55 I am contemplating a switch. If you have a chance, could you go by the beach chapel terrace gazebo and let me know what you think of the location? And pro's and cons of having the ceremony there verses Gazebo 55. I have only seen a few photos of each and I'd really like to have something else to base my decision on. I will be forever in your debt if you can do this for me. Thanks :) :) :)

Shannon, I have the dress in my closet. I'm not sure what we will do with it after they steam. I guess clear out the closet and spread it out, then forbid him from going near it lol We don't know which other guests will be in casitas to have the dress delivered to, so ill take it back. Gazebo 55 is still my choice. Chapel terrace is right off the main walkway, and rooms are close by. Plus guacamayas bar, and Jojos is close. So less private IMO. Temp is 80ish during the day, 70s and breezy at night.

What is everyones color scheme? I hadn't really put any thought into this, but lately I've been seeing a lot of deep purple and really been gravitating towards it. I thought it would look really nice with the light gray suit my FI is going to go with (something like the below). My question: is a deepish purple too dark for a beach wedding in May? My dress is kind of elegant/glam/old Hollywood and I thought purple was a regal color to go with it. I look really terrible in warm colors, so we were definitely going to go with a green, blue, or purple. Any input would be appreciated! Please be honest...we haven't picked anything yet so I'd rather know now than after we start buying stuff! Like the below are some examples I liked:

You're not too far off from me. May wedding and  I'm doing Teal, Purple, and Green... all jewel tones.. with silver as an accent if it's needed.  These are my favorite colors.  The dominate combo is Purple and Teal, since Purple and Green makes my FI think Barney... but there's still green here and there.  My motif is peacock feathers.  If you look at previously posted pictures on the board you'll see my aisle streamers and chair hangers that I made over the summer. I'm thinking Purple aisle and petals, with Purple and teal sheers on the Gazebo.  I really like Nikki's center pieces and I think I'm going to use that as my inspiration, but with a teal table cloth with purple placemats, a green runner and white rose petals.  Tall clear glass vases with petals in water, clear votives with silver tea lights (which I got on clearance after last halloween), and mercury glass votives with regular tea lights(which I'm making).  I'm also going to try and get Blue Dendrobium orchids and have a few of those scattered amidst the rose petals.  I'm debating on doing chair scarves, maybe in purple. ... of course I haven't gotten any price quotes on this yet.  So, maybe all these ideas will change when I do.  I do plan on trying to bring a bunch of the supplies with me.  The real thing I'm looking for is a cheaper sheers option... $300 a sheer is just ridiculous.

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific, I meant how did you stow your dress on the airplane? However, I am glad to know they will steam the dress at the resort. Thank you sooooo much for the Gazebo advice, I think I am going to change to Gazebo 55. Enjoy your time there!! How long are you staying?

I laid my dress down in an overhead compartment since they wouldnt cough up the hanging closet. The stewardess informed me that I was taking up too much room... I said tough! I think we flew American too and I didnt find the stewardess very friendly, but she may have just been having a bad day. The resort will steam your dress, but I thin it costs about $25.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
