El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

So the Bridezilla came out! My appointment was scheduled at 5pm the day I arrived and after sitting in the Lobby waiting for my appointment, it was never scheduled for that time. They told me it was scheduled for the next morning at 11am. I had already planned excursions so this was not going to work. I had emails supporting that time but they had a wedding to attend. Understandable but I have also made other plans. After being frustrated with them, I sat in the lobby waiting for the other guests to arrive and thankfully  they came and found me to go ahead and do appointment.

Day of the wedding I went out shopping and came back to find another location set up. Pictures are little deceiving. I wanted Fuentes which looks a like lot presidential. I asked them to change it. They had not hung the flowers yet so I figured it would be an easy fix but instead she argued that it was what I signed for. They end up fixing it after I started to get a little snappy. I even offered to pay to change. The ceremony was very nice, I can't wait to see the pictures. Our cake was served at the cermony which I didn't like because it was melted and the wrong flavor. We didn't get a chance to have any besides what we fed each other because of the time with our photographer.

I was happy with everything so please don't take this as if I was dissapointed. Just wanted to share a few things that could go wrong. I strongly suggest taking a folder with emails. I did break them out a few times.

I am not quite sure who everyone is using but we used destinationweddings.com. We had a lot of changes with the rooms and guests and unfortunately the Hotel did not receive those. I had guests arriving and stuck in the lobby for an hour while they tried to fix things. I strongly suggest communicating a final list of rooms and guests. I did and there was still a mix up. This could help with issues especially if guests are flying in at different times.

In the end the resort was fabulous!!! My husband puts it up there with our Colorado trips which is shocking becuase he is not a water kind of guy. I miss saying Hola to everyone and the service was the best I ever had!

Now on tipping with took $150.They deserved every dollar of it. We even left a note with extra tip money for Eddy one of the shuttle drivers. He was awesome! I noticed a lot of non American's that didn't tip. They work 6 days a week so if you can imagine they work hard for their money.

If you have any questions let me know!

Stina,

What specific emails/topics of emails do you suggest bringing down? We have been working with Valeria with DWs.com for over a year, so I dont want to kill too many trees!

Stina - sorry you had to go all Bridezilla on them, but glad they made it all right for you in the end.

TheWolforts - so soon now!!! and 20% - wonder why they wouldn't tell me that when I chatted with them??

Jill - I still haven't had a response from Natalia to my epic email of questions either. I guess when she wants decisions from me she'll reply... and not answer any of the questions I've asked.

I know girl I felt the same way! Any appointments and specifics you talked about, We went over my bouquet because I made one here for maid of honor. The one I received was nothing like what we had in emails and pics. It wasn't a deal breaker because it was beautiful but it didn't make sense because we had pics and colors pics out. If your a picky person I would make it very clear on what you want.

So we leave early this Sunday morning and because of the last minute guest cancellations, there are still a couple of things that need to be confirmed on our spreadsheet as well as some questions I have that need to be answered. Valeria sent me a couple of emails yesterday and I responded immediately, but I have not heard from her since. I emailed her today as I am getting antsy to have everything finalized and I got an out of office response!!! Apparently, she and the entire Lomas Wedding office our out of the office for the week visiting resorts... doh.gif

1) Shouldnt she tell the brides she is working with, especially those with weddings in the next couple of weeks, that she will be out?

2) What am I going to do?! blink.gif

Yeah, that's just not right. I'd be fuming, and pull out the Bridezilla here. I guess all you can do is hope she gets back to you, and if she doesn't, confirm it once you get to the resort (and then demand compensation for the lack of response). Do you have a travel agent who can help?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
