El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

We decided to go with caribe after reviewing all the recommendations. So I see that you had Natalia like I did for your planner, I'm glad I'm not the only one that dealt with her, but we have everything finalized and what we want, our travel agent was a big help.

Thank you for the info. Did you read that review about the classical guitarist on this thread? I better go back and read it if so! We were considering having the guitarist if he'd play the songs we want. I was a little nervous about it though, especially considering it's $600 for 45 minutes of playing! Maybe reading that review will make my decision for me lol. Also, what brand/model was the ipod player you got from Costco that works well? We are going to get one to bring down with us, so any insight on what is good to purchase is helpful!

My fiance and I are both certified scuba divers, as well as some of our family and friends, we are planning on taking a scuba trip together (we are all paying for our own excursions; we are not paying for everyone to go on an excursion if that is what you were asking).

When I was there for my cousins wedding in 2010, no one our 55 person group went to check out the bar scene elsewhere. I guess we all figured that we had already paid for all the alcohol we could want, so we didnt want to go pay for it elsewhere. I think a couple of people went to see the ruins at Tulum and a couple went to a small bazaar to do some shopping, but they did mention that the sales people were VERY pushy.

We just went through our final payment period, so I know how you feel about people pulling out last minute sad.gif  Just remember, that you will have a great time with the people that can make it and you will have more time to spend with everyone with a smaller number of guests! We had hoped that by sending out our save the dates over a year in advance, that people would start saving then, but that just proved to not be the case with almost everyone. Putting away $50-100 per month sounds wayyy more manageable to me, but you cant expect everyone to be as logical haha confused.gif

We are using their ipod hookup for our ceremony and plugging in our iPhone (unless I replace my broken iPod between now and then). We bought a portable ipod player from Costco a couple months ago that has fantastic sound and a long battery, so we are going to bring that to our rehearsal dinner and cocktail reception. I would worry about hiring a classical guitarist if you have specific songs you would like played, as you would not likely get to meet the musician before hand and I recall reading a horrifying review of a classical guitarist that someone hired, who was off key, didnt play the requested songs, etc. Maybe one of your guests plays the guitar and wouldnt mind playing for your ceremony? My cousin's friend played his guitar for them and it turned out really well!

I want to go snorkeling and to see the ruins. But I don't think we're going to pay for the group to go. I have thought about setting a couple of excursions up that people can reserve so we all go at the same time, but not sure if I'm going to do that or not. I may just let them contact the resort to set those things up as they want to (one less thing for me to worry about...).

I have no interest in checking out the bar scene elsewhere - we've already paid for it at the resort, so I'm staying on property. Maybe if we get bored after folks leave we'll check out cancun or playa (yeah right! bored on the honeymoon...).

Ashbrooke - would LOVE to see your program. my email address is allisonlharper AT gmail DOT com if you want to send it that way. thank you in advance!

My photog is one of my friends, and she'll be staying there the 3 nights so there's no additional fee.

We are going to do the iPod for the ceremony and the reception.

TheWolforts - I'm also interested in the system you found at Costco. clue us in?? We're trying to decide if we're going to buy something and drag it down there with us or pay the outrageous rental fee.

Amanda - yes, I'm working with Natalia. your wedding is coming up soon!! just a couple of weeks before TheWolforts'. I can't wait to hear about your experience.

Yes so exciting, congrats to you ladies. Good Luck with getting the casita, we actually qualified for it because we had 15 rooms from our guests and then got a free wedding package. So worth the price.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
