Customs in Mexico - declaring wedding stuff

It's a button you push when standing with a customs officer. Seriously it's just a big button. If it's green you walk thru, if it's red you get searched. It's just a 50/50 chance there is nothing behind it. I am certain they can search you if they feel appropriate otherwise it's a 50/50 luck of the draw.

Agreed, although it's random (I've seen a 5 yr old kid get the red light after his parents both got green), I do believe there is a way for the officer to make it go red if they need to check you. But that may be the conspiracy theorist in me!

Hee hee. There is some truth in that. Customs officers ALWAYS have the right to inspect your bags.(and if they want to inspect you, they will ask to see your bags, even if you haven't pushed the button at all) The green/red light is just a way to have random searches otherwise. So if you are bringing a ton of stuff or the customs officers think there is something they want to look at, they will.

Your letter is very thorough, however, they move very veery quickly when they want to check your bags. We got the red light, and with seven bags we had to get them up on the table and open them and answer their questions which were pretty simple...our answer, it's for our wedding was basically it. They whole 'search' lasted about 3 minutes and most of that was us getting the bags open and then reclosed.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
