Cancun welcome dinner ideas?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone - I am new and looking for ideas! I am going on a scouting trip next week to Cancun. We are looking at the Marriotts and a couple of other places for the ceremony and reception. I don't have any ideas yet on a welcome/rehearsal dinner. We will likely have about 100-120 guests. Is anyone planning a welcome dinner in the Cancun area for a big group? I'd love to get your thoughts. Thanks!!

The marriott is gorgeous!!!! I loved the gazebo, I'm having my religious ceremony there.. I posted some pics in my review thread..

I don't think I'll have a welcome dinner since I have more than 200 guests.. If I have it'll be a pay yourself dinner.. blush2.gif

Thanks Anny - I saw your pictures of the Marriott gazebo, they are amazing! We are discussing dates with them right now to see if they have availability for winter 2008.

Yes, I think we'll check out everything within walking distance of the Casa Magna Marriott (including the JW)...I will definitely pass on anything useful when I get back.

We are also looking for maybe a few restaurants to have a "meeting" place outside of the resort. We and all 40 of our guests are staying at Dreams Cancun and I will be very interested to see what you think when you get back from your site visit! Make sure you let us know when you get back!

Good question. I guess I'd like to stick to the Cancun area because I think we'll need to transport our guests if it's not in walking distance, and the farther we go, probably the more expensive. I would love ideally to find something in the Hotel Zone that is walkable or an easy bus ride. I imagine it would be harder to find a restaurant in the center of Cancun that can accommodate a big group and microphones for speeches, etc., though that would probably be a lot of fun if we could.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
