Brides who have already planned the ceremony! Help!! I hadn't been asked ANYTHING about who we want to marry us, or what we want said, so I asked this in my last email to Victoria...

Do we need to talk about the ceremony itself and who will be performing this? We would like a minister for the symbolic ceremony (not a legal ceremony). When do we need to plan this?[Victoria Vazquez]  yes , is a symbolic ceremony and the minister have your ceremony only if you have your own vows or something special for say is okay

Does anyone understand this answer?? I'm super anxious about the fact that I don't know the person who will be marrying us, and I don't know what will be said...ugh....and Victoria doesn't seem to recognize that I need a detailed list/writeup of EXACTLY what is going to be said.

What are past experiences? Anyone know of a specific minister who was good??

I would like to know this as well! I told my WC that I wanted a rehearsal dinner, which she said was fine, but we haven't talked about it since. She said that we could have a couple tables set up, with a set menu for our group. I don't really want anything special for the dinner, just a chance to get together and walk through the wedding itself. Does she contact a restaurant at the resort or do I?

The minister we got, who I believe is who they have for most symbolic ceremonies was fantastic. Our ceremony was fantastic and super touching. He read a part of the Hands poem (google it and you can see what it says). We were going to have this poem read by my hubby's mom so when he read it she heard it and discretely put hers away and he came to the part to add our reading in and asked us if we had a reading and we just quietly said no and he moved on. Then he asked us after vows to say something from the heart to each other. We knew this was coming because brides on here had warned about it and we had decided to tell each other simply 'I love you' You do have the option to have someone you know do the ceremony for you, then you can script it now you want and don't have to pay their officiant the $400.

Hello Ladies..

Does anyone have pics of their reception at the Banquet hall they want to post or send to me? I am still deciding between the Mint Breeze and Strawberry Passion package and would love to see how the banquet hall looks for receptions.

Thanks!

Did you provide him with the material he used? Did you meet him before the wedding day to talk about details or did he just show up for the ceremony? It seems to weird not to have met the person! I really want to do a quick rehearsal too...hopefully this is possible. The downside of being type A haha!

LOL, i could imagine your concern, for some reason this was not something I was concerned about at all, not sure why but it just didn't cross my mind, haha.

I got our video recently and I can watch it and try to write down exactly what was said, if that would help. We didn't give him anything, he just said his own stuff. He did ask my husband little simple questions about us (all while the party walked down the isle mostly) and then he threw them in as little details, like how long we were together, that kinda thing. The Hands poem was a total fluke that he read it and we also were wanting it read.

I was also concerened about not speaking with the officiant before the ceremony and not knowing at all what would be said! I also asked my WC if she had a script of what he usually said and she said no but if I had something special I wanted him to say that she would give it to him.

Even though I was worried about this...the officiant ended up being one of the best suprises of the ceremony! He did a great job and definitly knew what he was doing. I did write out a few things like how to say my name (it spelled differently :) ), that I wanted him to mention we had originally met in Mexcio, an explainiation of the ring warming ceremony we did, the hands reading, and that we were saying our own vows. I did not write out an exact script but put things I wanted incorporated and he did an awesome job of combining all of that with normal intros, vows, ring exchange, etc.

I am sure you could write out an entire script and he would do it word for word but seriously I would not worry AT ALL he was great and even improvised for us when our ring warming ceremony reading was way too short.

BTW I think there is only one minister/officiant used at Barcelo...

oh and my husband said that the officiant asked him a few questions right before the ceremony like if we wanted a prayer and a few things about us.

I know it is weird and even stressfull to not meet with him before the ceremony but I guess that is what makes a DW different....going with the flow :)

My WC made the reservations for us ahead of time and when we met with her at the resort we picked the menue (2 choices). We just had a dinner at the Carribean restaurant and talked over the details of the wedding day with everyone. It was very casual and nothing to plan..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
