any help would be appreciated.

We decided to go with the lower end package (Mint Breeze) and upgrade a few small things. We have approx 30 ppl going, so we are going to pay a bit extra for food, cake etc and then I'm bringing some decorations. The chairs/covers/sashes are all included, as well as the basic set up. They also have some really affordable flower arrangements if you want extras for the table! We have $3300 for ALL the wedding day stuff...the package, a few extras, my hair/makeup, extra flowers (I'm getting 3 centerpieces), and I think we'll make it for around that :) There were just 'extras' included in the cost of the Strawberry Package that we felt weren't worth the money. Better to get the basics and upgrade in the areas you feel are important to you :)

Hey Everyone, just knew to this site, but getting married at the Barcelo Maya Tropical on May 1st, 2013.  We still have lots of planning to do as we are just working on the menu... A few questions for you gals.

1.  We've chose the Mint Breeze package and wondering about the reception and entertainment. We're planning on having supper, a few speeches and then not sure what we should do for dance.  Do others use the Mariachi Band if if so, what are your thoughts?  Anybody bring in any other entertainment or just use and iPod?  We are having around 60 people from Brazil and Canada, some old, some young..

2. Anyone have a play list they'd like to share from the reception?

3.  Are microphones set up in the banquet hall and for the ceremony?

4. Does anyone have a good map of the resort to see where the beaches/ banquet halls are in relation to the Tropical?

5. We're having a symbolic ceremony. Any suggestions of something meaningful we could incorporate into the ceremony besides the sand ceremony?

Thanks for the help everyone!!

1. We only had 30 people so not sure if you want more entertainment with a DJ or not, but we just used our Ipod. With only 3 hours (if you choose not to add more time) it was perfect for us. We did speeches during during, went right into our dances, then had about an hour and a half for dancing and partying. I have herad of people using the Mariachi Band and sounds fun! 5. We did a ring warming ceremony. Here is what was said:

Later in the ceremony _____ & _____ will exchange rings as a symbol of their love and commitment to one another. As the ceremony proceeds they would like to invite family and friends to take part in The Warming of the Rings. As the rings make their way through the group please take a quick moment to hold them, warm them with your love, and silently make a wish or ask a blessing for this couple and their future together. When these rings return they will contain your love and support for their union to keep it strong throughout the years.

The rings were tied together with a ribbon and passed down the aisles. While the rings were passed the officiant did a reading. This might be better for smaller groups though because we had 30 people and it still took some time.

We had the strawberry package but our timeline for the reception was a little different than some people. We had our intro as the married couple, first dance, cut the cake (for pictures) then sat down and had speeches/toasts done prior to dinner being served. Dinner was then served and then we partied! We used the iPod for our music and it worked perfect and was such a great inexpensive option! I will attach our playlists right away. We didn't do anything special at the ceremony, we had a Hands speech to be read but didn't know that the justice of peace used the Hands saying in his talking bit so we did without our speech. 400 400 400 (I've uploaded the playlist from my phone so if it doesn't work ill do it again and try a different way) Cheers! Happy planning!

Thanks again!

Thank you and happy to help :)

I did not use the salon (did it myself with the help of my BMs) but I did see other brides getting their hair and makeup done at the salon and it looked good! They use MAC makeup and I have seen brides on here show pics and say that they did a good job. I got a manicure and it looked good but chipped within hours! All of ours chipped after it was completely dry so not sure if it was the humidity or something or the pollish they used...

Has anyone else had the wedding coordinator talk about FRUIT centerpieces? I definitely didn't discuss this with her prior (I have already picked my FLOWER centerpieces), so I thought it was super weird! If she wants to throw in fruit centerpieces too, that's great but if they aren't free...lol. Anyone else have this experience?

Step 8 is if you have anyone that is not staying at the hotel that needs a guest pass and also if you have a vendor or something staying at the hotel I believe. Once you have completed those 8 steps your WC will then send you a separate spreadsheet for your guest list.

Okay its been some time since I posted anything. I have been so focused on little details.

I have a few questions that I can't seem to find the exact answer to even after doing a search.

1. Negotiation on price - I get that they have to make money however, I do feel they nickle and dime you. I am bring 80 guests to this hotel all staying at the Palace for 7 -10 days. Has anyone had any lucky negotiating on the prices for anything?

2. Am I just not reading all this information correctly...not only do they charge you $66 per person over 15 (strawberry package) but then they also charge $15 per person for alcohol ???  My WC really has never made that clear on my spreadsheet of the price.

3. This outside vendor charge...do I have to pay $500 for my Photographer and $500 for my Videographer as well?

4. I did read somewhere that I don't have to pay for Adrian and his team to come on site as he includes that in his price and pays them ?

5. Are the 3 hours for the ceremony enough? What are suggestions to keep the price down

6. Rehearsal Dinner - is this something I get or do I have to pay for this as well ?

Sorry I'm just freaking out and I'm only 32 days away from the Wedding.

I am very fortunate that my parents are paying for my wedding however I don't want them to get down there and be like WTF are all these extra charges.

So Brides that have recently been married there or anyone who knows an answer please HELPPPPP

Thanks

Sam

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
