Did you feel there was a big difference between the two hotels? Do you have different options for your wedding ceremony and dinner if you stay at the Palace. I think I want my ceremony on the beach and my dinner in one of the outdoor grills. I'd love to see pictures and hear more. Thanks!
Yes there is a major difference in the wedding packages. If you want your dinner/reception outdoors you have to have the Ocean Scents package or higher (more expensive). The first two packages Mayan Sunset & Under the Stars are banquet room only for dinner, but you can still have the ceremony outside. The first two packages also have a limited menu, three courses, for you to choose from. Ocean Scents and higher have a five course meal (one of the choices is beef tenderloin w/lobster tail).
I hired an outside WC in Riviera Maya to work in conjunction with Gabriela (WC at Barcelo Palace). My WC is making sure all our i's are dotted and t's are crossed so we know what we're getting into.

Hi I am also from Vancouver BC and have put my wedding date on hold for the Barcelo Maya for Feb 25 2010. I have talked to a few travel agents already and have one in my extended family. I was told the prices for Feb wont be out until end of April or early May. I was told I could double check in the begginning of April but they probably won't be out. I would imagine the prices for April/May won't be out for a few months after that. I don't think the put the prices for 2010 all at once but i could be wrong. From what I understand they are updated monthly.

I was worried about this to because I wanted to be booked at least a year in advance and get the STD out. The 3 TA's that I talked to said that I would have plenty of time and not to worry. So I guess that is what I am going to have to do. I am just going to let family know verbally and through email. And get the STD out when I can!

We've finally decided on Barcelo Maya!!!! We would like to book January 8, 2010 (1 year from today!! YAHHHH!!!!)...we've contacted the hotel and the wedding coordinator and were told we couldn't reserve the date until their new 2010 quotes are up which would be until March/April!!! I'm freaking out because I want to send my STD's in March, what if they don't have our day available?!?!?!? I guess my STD's would just say "Riviera Maya, Mexico" and not name the location, and if all else fails we'd choose a different location! But we really have our hearts set on having it at Barcelo! Is anyone else having it there in 2010? Have you been told the same thing!

Thanks!

Hey ladies!!! I too was a Barcelo bride! Originally a Dreams Tulum bride!

I too am from the lower mainland. I just wanted to let you know, that I too had a very hard time at the beginning of our DW planning. We couldn't get quotes anywhere! Some TA looked at me like I was retarded when I asked about quotes. Not a pleasant feeling!

In the end I think you just have to wait it out... The best piece of advice I can give you is to just be patient.

Trust me when I say... Everything will work out in the end :) :) :) Happy Planning ladies :)

Aww you're from Coquitlam, that's where my FI proposed to me. :) I love it there. We go there every year.

Thanks for the advice Dreamstbride. You're right, we're just going to have to wait right now. But I'm sure it'll work out... I just have to have patience. (which I don't have a whole lot of usually. haha!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
