Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey girls, especially Melissa, since you're getting close too,

What are you doing for flowers? The free flowers offered by the hotel are not that great, so I'm wondering what everyone else is doing? I know Nicole is buying those "real touch" something flowers, they look really good. I might just end up paying for extras, but wondering about everyone else.

And welcome to all the new girls, its nice having lots of people and opinions.

I really like the set-up for Dreams Cancun A LOT, but my decision was based on the fact that the coordinators were not really responsive and all based out of Mexico. The Moon Palace has English speaking people in florida you can contact and they have 1-800 number etc, so coordinating your wedding to be just like you want is much easier.

Second, we have a big size coming for our wedding and with Moon Palace, you get freebies like cocktail hours, one private functions or unlimited functions for free (lowers our cost substantially) each freebe depends on how many rooms you book, in addition, with your contract your guests get free excursions to the mayan ruins etc (if they book for a minimum of 3 nights).

The one problem that some people have with the MP is that no outside vendors are allowed, however, you can get around it, for example you can get the photographer a day pass and they can come and take pictures. Second, you tell your WC what kind of cake, flowers, or even beach set ups you want, and THEY look for the vendor and provide you a price. So, even though they don;'t allow outside vendors, they have their own vendors that they work with and help you out. So, it basically turned out best for me because I don't have to go around searching for vendors, I can just give them a picture of the cake or set up and they can just charge me.

The Moon palace rooms were also a little less expensive for the guests, which is also very good. The grounds are gorgeous, you should check out trip advisor pictures to see it.

ALSO, if you book block rooms, they give you a link you can provide your guests so that they can book their own rooms at the room block price, which is very convenient.

In all, although I like the set up for dreams in cancun better (the gazebo on the cliff), the MP has many types of azebo, and you can have your wc work on a beach set up that you have always dreamed of, so i ended up with more options.

Lastly, I really like the horse carriage, I know this is not for all,but for me, I always wanted a "princess type" wedding.. and the surprise entrance...

Hope this helps :)

Ok, I know a buch of us wanted the menues for private functions. Karina just sent me this. They had it in some fancy font and it was really hard to read, so I changed the font and tried to fix the formatting a bit...it's a little confusing....but...

We are planning to have a sit down dinner reception...
"I have attached the menus we offer for our functions to this e-mail. This does not need to be decided right away actually the final decisions are made at the resort directly."

It's like 40+ pages....
DEZ you are wonderful, thank you for posting this!

Here are the pictures of included flowers my WC sent me. Some of them are actually pretty cute, but I just wanted something more tropical like orchids not roses.

Pookie, this flower issue has been stressing me out. I went online on e-bay and got a quote from this lady, I am basically getting all my flowers for 149 dollars (if i purchase them), is really cool because she has some tourquoise roses, which look gorgeous with white ribbon. She can also do your own, not to mention that she will make your own per your specifications and put an ad just for you to see and purchase, she e-mails you pretty fast too.

I don't know if i will purchase it as my fiance wants real flowers and so do I but i'm afraid of getting there and them not having blue flowers to accent my white flowers, for my tiffany blue style wedding.

Anyway, 149 is not a lot, so if you get there and they don't have the flowers you want, you can use the silk flowers, or you can get the extra...so really if you buy the silk flowers, you would only be giving yourself more options. I think this is the route I am going to take, but I welcome pictures of the free flowers if you have them...

so here's the ebay flower lady i talked about

21pc Bridal ROUND bouquet wedding flowers BLUE / white - eBay (item 180199029377 end time Jul-20-08 22:37:44 PDT)

I look forward to more ideas on this flower deal :)

Why not ask the people in FL if they have the color flower you want? I was asking about flowers, but I guess they are in teh middle of changing vendors and my wedding is too far out to quote me prices....just an idea, the FL office has been super helpful for me.

Hmm Now you have me thinking. Flowers never really stressed me out. I wonder if they can combine the flowers to make something that you wat specifically? For instance if i want calla lillies and i dont know daisys would they combine the flowers from two bouquets and make the one that you want? Stress is starting to form.....

SOOOOO, i don't like these free flowers very much, the only really decent ones are the roses, which doesn't really help you... or me that much. Don't really know if they would even have orchids as "extras." I doubt they would have blue accent flowers either, anyone know?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
