Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies!! I am trying to narrow down a resort for my DW and Moon Palace is one of the top 3. I have a question for those of you who've been married there already....my fiance and I are hoping to qualify for the "unlimited private functions" offer. Has anyone on this thread qualified for that? If so, is it truly free? You don't have to pay for welcome or rehearsal dinners??

Thank you!!

Nicole

Which is a better location for the reception? The Lake Terrace or the Tucan Terrace?

My travel agent asked which one and we were on the phone so I quickly said the Tucan Gazebo and Tucan Terrace, with cocktail hour in the Tucan garden. I loved Mrseddy's pics. I don't know exactly how many people are coming we are up to 40 so far... I expect about 60 people. Is that too much time in the Tucan section? Is it too small for that many people to dance? HELP!!!!smile41.gif

I have a similar question to slaslappyhappy.. I was thinking either the between the terrace tucan or the Vernado? I am having approx 50 guests. I am having a beach ceremony! Any information would help.

slaslappyhappy- do you think they accommodate according to how many guests you have? I noticed one of the places you had chosen accommodates 130 guests?

How far are you in your planning? I am somewhat nervous now! I would love to share ideas with you I am getting married in July so i am one month ahead of u!

So far we booked, I have my dress and bm dresses ordered, my FI STILL did not pick out what he (or the GM) is wearing!!! We sent out save the dates, I am not sure when to send out the invites.... I found out there are 3 other weddings on my day so I got my travel agent to call and reserve the Tucan Gazebo. They seem to be more willing to work with a travel agent than the actual bride!

We chose the sapphire package, and I am talking with the decor company (decocancun/zuniga) about a light up dance floor. I saw it on one of the Dreams wedding reviews and it is one of the things I really want! I love futureMrsEddy's review, so I think I am going to get the same table runners and chair sashes as her. I like the lanterns but they are another $300 and I don't know if the Tucan is okay without them... Not sure about the centerpieces yet... if I should lug them down or not idk!!!

I love frangipani (plumeria) so I ordered my flowers from plumeria's wedding boutique because I have 7 bm and the bouquets are $125 each at the MP. It was a lot cheaper, I still have no clue about centerpieces. I also have no clue about the OOT bags because I need to know how many people are going! If a lot I will get a cheapie, if a few I will get something nicer.

My biggest stress is the bookings... I have 38 people going so far but 10 of them are staying off the resort! A bunch of others claim they are coming but have not booked yet (incl. 3 of my bm!!!) What about you jodimichelle, how are your plans coming along?

My dress came in. I went to see it the other day! I am nervous about how it will completely fit. It is still big on me, so I cannot really picture it.

My bridesmaids dresses have been ordered. hopefully sometime in May.

We are gettin married on the beach so we decided to use ISLAND IMPORTER for my fiance and his groomsmens attire. You should check them out!

My STD were sent out in JULY. My guests had a good year if not more to plan for my wedding. Invites my fiance owns a graphic design company so our invitations are ALMOST ready. He is currently working for his customers so our invites are on the bottom of his list right now. We plan and I hope to send them out mid MARCH. I would say depending on how long you sent you STD - you can always wait until MAY?

We chose the complementary package. We also spoke with the Decor company, but I have not decided what to do really. Light up dance floor looked really nice. I think we might get those tall led lights and some equip. my fiance also owns a Entertainment Company so he will be dealing with all that.

I was thinking about having white linens with some accent colors for our table. My colors are green and coral. Everything you add seems to be more money there. But oh well.

I just checked them out they are very pretty. Question -how are you going to bring them with you including your bridesmaids??

I found the biggest stress so FAR is our guests and booking.. We have approx 10 rooms booked in MP and one that is off site.

4 of my bridesmaids have yet to book -so frustrating!!

Where in NY are you from?

I am currently trying to make a list of what I want to bring, do , organize. Buit I don't feel like i have accomplished much. I have checked out two reviews and I know I saved other brides reviews but I have misplaced them. What I am doing is taking what the say and what i find helpful and inoutting it into my "list"

When in Aug is ur wedding? Will ur Wedding be legal in Mexico or are you getting married here first?

We were told we needed certified birth certificate (exact copy of your BC from the local registry office) this then needed to be sent to the foreign office in london (at a cost of £72!) for them to verify it is in fact a true document, stick a bit of paper on the back with an embossed stamp and send it back. We also needed a solicitor to photocopy our passports and sign and stamp to say we are who we say we are. Both docs were photocopied again and then forwarded onto Virgin. We keep the originals and take them with us.
Hope this helps.
Hi lady, I'm also from the UK, but didn't book our wedding through a TA, we booked direct with MP. My wedding co-ordinator has confirmed with me many times that we only need certified certs....I went back and forth with her many times on this, because on the youandyourwedding.co.uk forum soo many ppl say they have been told by TA's that you need to go down the route you did...but she says time and time again that for moon palace you don't need to get the certs embossed. Just wondering if it was your wedding co-ordinator who told you this, or Virgin?

I think the Tucan Terrace can easily fit up to 60 people. It doesn't look so at first, but they do a good job of seeing up the area to maximize the space. We had 45 people including hubby and I set up with 5 tables and 1 table for just the two of us. Of the 5 tables, one had 10 people, one had 9 and the other three had 8. If you look at my review, there's a good picture of the Terrace right after they set it up and with some shifting, another table could have easily fit. Also, although a lot of my guests danced, there were quite a few who were saddled up by the bar or just enjoying the scenery by the beach or at the tables. We never had the sense the "dance floor" was overcrowded.

Hi, it was on the documents Virgin gave us. I had to send them a copy for them to keep on file and take the originals with us to Moon Palace. I hope they do need them otherwise I just wasted nearly £100 getting them posted stamped and posted again... wouldnt put it past Virgin. they dont seem to know what they are doing most of the time! ..

Hi Girls

I am going a little crazy right now. I have been stressing getting married on the beach since day one of the booking process. And I was sent and email saying they have me down in the GAzebo. I am going for the free wedding package, but want to be on the beach. I hope they will resolve this ASAP.

For those of you who had your ceremony on the BEACH when did you stress the location and when was it finalized. I am getting married in 4 months!

Thank you

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
