Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

MRSEDDY- Hello! Thanks for suggesting booking the outside vendor as a guest. Also, I noticed you did boarding passes..Do you have a template? My Fiance is a graphic designer at" night" and will be designing our STDs.

AND FOR ALL- Ok I am 2 days away from signing my contract and one of my good friends emailed me with a concern- Is Mexico safe?

I started thinking about it and began to get really upset. For one- It took my fiance and a few months to decide on a location, and then like 3 months to make our final decision. Once we reached our decision I was so happy.

I called my travel agent and she said not to worry.. and right now I am not as worried, but I also don't want my guests not to come because of this mess...

=(

From some of the posts on here it looks like a lot of people have stayed at the Moon Palace before - do you know if the tours are included every year or is this a promotion just for this year? The website states the palace passport will end in December but from reading some of the previous posts is sounds like this is something they have been doing for quite a few years...

The price is a little bit higher then some of the resorts we have looked at but including the tours is a huge value for some of our guests...

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Nibsmom, I want to tackle the passports, but did you find them much more time consuming to make than the boarding passes? I was thinking of making them for the invitations but also more as a reference point that has information about the resort and the intinerary, maybe even simple Spanish phrases...basically information that we have on our wedding website but mobile.
Hey MrsEddy, I actually didn't make them myself...I would have gotten WAY too frustrated! Ana De Roux, on the forum, made them for me!!

I wouldn't think they would be too hard though!!

We do have some off site folks joining us. They are supposed to leave immediately after. I figured this plan would allow them to stay the day with the wedding group even though there are a couple hours in between events.
Tina, I actually really like that idea. I've been going back and forth between doing everything really early, or putting a big gap in between. I'm having a really hard time deciding. I like your idea...I'm going to talk it over with Matt and see what he thinks.

Good luck on hitting the 75 night mark too! I'm jealous! I wish we had that many people coming! Although, we are at the perfect spot right now...we have just enough people that we can eat in the restaurants, and just enough rooms to get the free cocktail reception!

Okay, question for those of you who already had your weddings, or those who are close...well, or those who have thought about this....what are you doing for tipping?

Are you tipping everyone? Officiant, servers, WC, etc? Or just a few select people? Or, should we not really be tipping since it's an AI?

Jodimichelle-I used the template from Alyee Bits. I've attached the link below. She's got some amazing ideas and great templates to use. The only thing she asks is that you credit her when you use/share them. If your fiance is a graphic designer he will have a blast with this! We just used cardstock and a colored printer! The pictures of the flowers and starfish I found online--clipart infact.

I have done A LOT of pondering on this topic and I still don't know what to do. I asked my WC if guests usually tip and on average how much they tip or what she feels would be an acceptable tip and she told me that not all guests tip and tips are not expected. She provided little to no guidance on the subject, most likely because they aren't to discuss it.

Pete believes that the Priest should get a tip as he is associated with the Catholic church and not the resort per se. We budgeted for a $100 tip for the Priest but my goal is to at least cut that in half because I think $100 is excessive.

I'm thinking $20 for the cocktail hour and dinner each. Then I'm not sure yet about the WC tip - she is definitely doing the majority of the leg work in this process. Maybe $20 for her too?

Am I being cheap? Has anyone else thought about this?

In regards to the tips,

I leave on Monday for my wedding at Beach Palace. I sent our wedding cord an email asking her who to tip and how much. I never heard back from her in regards to that. I really need some advice on who to tip too and how much. What's the standard thing to do for the wedding cord?

In regards to tipping, we did tip alot. The bartenders, the bar staff at our wedding reception, the housekeepers, and our WC. They make absolutely no money there. And we had such an amazing time and everyone was so accomodating that we just felt that it would be rude NOT to tip them. Just our opinion.........And I don't think they are allowed to talk about it/or ask/or anything. We just left $$ at the bar, and I got my WC a card thanking her and put the money in there and dropped it off with her before we left.

Jodimichelle,

Don't worry, We down here in Texas hear it is only on the borders. We have heard from a couple of our guests traveling from the Northeast that the stories up there make it sound horrible throughout Mexico. All the violence is from Mexico City upwards to the borders not in the tourist areas and it is no where close to Cancun.

I hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
