Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

:) Are you doing the legal ceremony at dreams then? Or do you get married up here first then go down for the ceremony? Also, how early do you have to arrive, someone told me 4 days in advance? Is that only for the legal?

:) Yaya soo excited!

We are getting married at the town hall on Monday leaving on Tuesday and getting married on Friday. They say if non legal ceremony you have to be there 2 full days and if legal 4 full days. The day of your wedding and day you flew in don't count.

Hello Ladies,

I just returned from our wedding. I will have a review up soon but wanted to make a quick note for all the brides getting married soon. Make sure to write EVERYTHING down during your meeting with the wedding coordinator. We made the mistake of trusting her to take the notes and we didn't get any of the decorations the way we wanted it and there was no way to prove that we did not agree to what we had gotten b/c the "contract" was correct.

Overall the wedding was phenomenal! the DJ is really really good. Our party never stopped dancing and continued into desires until 3am. Claudia was very good with everything except the decorations of the gazebo. We wanted pink flowers with black ribbons on the columns, no ribbons on the chairs, the vases with pink flowers and black ribbons. What we got were no vases, pink ribbons on the chairs, and pink flowers with white drapes in the gazebo. I have no idea where those decorations came from b/c it wasn't even discussed during our meeting but there was no way for us to prove that because the contract had all of that written on it. So i came out of our meeting feeling like i was the crazy one. Of course no one knew that anything was wrong and everyone said it was beautiful which it was but it was not what i had wanted. I think if we wrote everything down and gave her our notes for the decorations everything would have been exactly as we wanted it.

For our non-legal ceremony we arrived on a Wednesday and got married on Saturday.  I think the 2-day requirement is simply so the Dreams staff has time to order the flowers you want and be prepared with the food and cake.  I think it is standard that on the day you arrive to set up your meeting with your WC for the next day.  So I was quite surprised when Claudia wanted to meet just a few hours after we arrived at the resort.  Later, seeing how many weddings there were the day before mine and on my day, I realize she had to squeeze me in before things got even more hectic.  At that meeting we talked about what I wanted and I gave her pictures of what I wanted (if at all possible, give your WC pictures so there is no confusion! - they truly do want to give you what you want, so a picture will prevent any unfortunate miscommunications).  The day before the wedding I dropped off my bags of wedding items (chair ribbons, table runners, programs, etc.)  I had packed a few of those reusable shopping totes to give Cladia the items in, knowing there was a good chance I wouldn't get them back.  I think I got one of the 3 back.

I am sorry you did not get what you wanted.  I too had a few things that did not go right, but luckily the guests still enjoyed everything.  Hopefully everything else went well enough that in time you can forget what went wrong and only have good memories.  I have to say that it took me a few months to get over a few of the things that went wrong with mine....but the pictures I have are exactly how I wanted them to be and they are the memories I will take forward.

(Looking forward to seeing your pictures!!!)

and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hello ladies! Did any of you use a Custom Aisle Runner? We are considering this and need your advice. What length/width did you have? What material did you have? Were there concerns about it blowing away? Did Dreams have to secure it down and/if so, did they have any problem doing so?  Also, was the transportation of it completely not worth it?

Thanks so much in advance!  I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support of this community!

-Michelle

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
