I emailed the concierge to ask about the new place. With Azucar, guests of Dreams were allowed free entry and two complimentary drinks. It had a live salsa band all night long until 7 am. Desires Bar is no longer open to the public, it's part of the all-inclusive package for Dreams. They have different kinds of music each night, but no live salsa band and they are only open 5 pm - 1 am. I'm kind of bummed, I was excited that our guests could go see some real Mexican music after the wedding and dance the night away, but that's not the case anymore. Just another random 'surprise' from Dreams again!

P.S. If it makes you feel better, Salsa is not "real" Mexican music anyway, it's Cuban/Puerto Rican/Dominican music which the spanish speaking world enjoys. Mexican music is Alejandro Fernandez, Los tigres del norte, Rancheras, Mariachi, Norteñas, and Rock en Español :)
Honestly, this sounds like an awesome change to me. Dreams doesn't have much as far as nightly entertainment and the Azucar Bar wasn't really that spectacular. I don't think it was what you were thinking it was.
So I think an All inclusive club in Dreams will be really funn and alot less expensive for those who didn't really want to leave the resort every night to have funn! :)

Don't worry ladies, no matter what changes they make, you are all going to have the time of your life..I promise you!!
It's almost a year since my Wedding and I miss it every day! :)elefant.gif

Quick question regarding the sit down vs. buffet style dinners for you gals....

i typically dont particularly like buffet style dinners, but our guest list for our DW has pretty much exploded overnight and i know that we wont be able to have the sit down dinner anymore....

do any of you have pictures of a buffet set up? comments about it?

i just dread the idea of guests waiting in a line to fill their plates, but i could just be being my regular old paranoid self.....

Normally i'm a plated dinner kind of girl at a wedding BUT atleast with the buffet you get fajitas!!! I love them!!! I wish i could have a buffett just for that reason alone :)

I don't think your guests will mind...its an open bar wink.gif

kinda stinks that they close that early, but any additional late-night music/drinking venue that's INCLUDED is a good change in my book! i can't even say if azucar was any good bc it was closed the entire week of my wedding (a year ago) ... i guess bc of swine flu and the resulting low number of resort guests around. they also skipped some of the other regular entertainment, like movies on the beach. it was a huge bummer bc there was literally nothing to do at the resort at night, other than drink a LOT and hang out at the rendezvous (main lobby) bar until 1am listening to the live guitarist they had every night. he was good but it was more of a mellow, coffee-shop kinda vibe. nowhere really to dance or party it up unless you left the resort (which no one wanted to do at the time, bc of swine flu). we made the best of it though friday.gif and i SO wish i could have gone back last week for our anniversary! i'm jealous of all you girls who get to go SOON! cheesy.gif

honestly, i actually would have liked to have had the buffet. i know it's not regarded as being as "elegant" as a plated dinner, but i usually find i enjoy the food more at weddings that have buffets, bc there are more choices for guests. besides, it forces people to mingle. cheesy.gif i didn't have enough guests to be allowed a buffet, and i know i definitely had a hard time choosing ONE item to satisfy everyone's tastes and dietary needs, especially since so much of the menu is seafood and we had several guests who were allergic. we got lucky bc once we got there, claudia allowed us to change the surf and turf (filet and shrimp) to filet and CHICKEN. also FYI, they *will* accommodate special dietary needs; our one vegetarian said she really enjoyed the veggie lasagna they served her.

Hi ladies...i was hoping someone could help me. I am booked to marry at dreams in May 7 2011. I am going to my site visit in July but i am getting scared because i emailed Cecilia all my information for the deposit and i have yet to hear from her in a week and half. In the wedding proposal it also says that my ceremony will take place in the beach and i want the gazebo. I asked her to please change it and i have yet to hear from with that as well. I emailed her an attachment with my credit card, license and form that i scanned and asked her to confirm and she hasn't. Please tell me that this is normal or should i start freaking out. I know my wedding is a 11months away so it's put on the back burner but i can't lie i am freaking out a little bit until those details are squared away. I would really hate if the gazebo is given away for another wedding in my time slot. Thanks in advance!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
