Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies,

I have a question for past brides who have used the mariachi trio for their cocktail hour or reception. I'm not having the cocktail hour but I was thinking about keeping the trio for my reception on the beach during dinner. Do you think the guests (about 30-40 of them) will be able to hear the mariachi trio play? If I don't use them, Cecilia said she could only give me 2 hours of the sound system instead and I'm not totally sold on that deal.

Thanks!!

Congrats to all the Dreams brides on this forum!

It worked out great, was about $79 and that was for the big book (11*14) and it was a think cover. They come cheaper as well. I got it in like 2 days.

hey thanks for the feedback! and congrats again- cant wait to read your review!!!

question- if you do the shutterbook guest book and have pictures, is there room on those pages to write messages as well? or would u recommend having blank pages after the picture pages?

thanks again!

I think people would be able to hear them just fine. We had them play while we were taking pictures, and then moved them over to our cocktail hour. But I remember being able to hear them just fine while taking pictures. It was nice backround music.

Thnaks, I did finally get an answer form Juan and he said that it would be $250 for each extra hour that we wanted him without upgrading the package. That being siad he also said that for anymore information on packages I had to speak to the wedding coordinator and not him.

For you ladies that did use him for you pictures and didn't upgrade from the package, did you find that you had enough time for the ceremony and to get all of your pictures taken afterwards or did you feel rushed?? I cant decide if i want to pay an extra $250 for an extra hour or not, i guess its more pictures to choose from in the end. I dont really care if i get pictures of the reception as long as i am not rushed through the pictures after the ceremony.

Does anyone know if he offers trash the dress shoots the following day, and if so what the price would be? Or would it be better to hire outside for the TTD?

Thx.

I used Juan, & I was told that we had him for 90 min...half hour for ceremony and one hour for After...So when he asked me where I wanted to take the pics with my husband, on the beach or all the way over by the light house, I said, right here on the beach, beacuse I didn't want to eat up any time getting to the light house & etc. I didn't know how strict he was with the time.

Well I shouldn't have worried, because first we took pictures at the Gazebo area with the parents and guests, then just the bridal party moved over to the beach, then he told me and My husband to come on and we followed him, his assistant and the videographer to the Lighthouse...We were there for a WHILE.

We def had him a total of 2 or more hours including the ceremony, so I wouldn't worry too much. Unless you have this long list of pics you HAVE to have, You will be ok.

Here is one thing that I wish he would have done but didn't and I am just realizing this now.

We didn't do a traditional picture. Just one of me and DH standing next to each other smiling at the camera. Everything was artsy shots and now I need to find my one main pic & I am having trouble :-(

Don't get me wrong I LOVE my pics, but I wish I had that one traditional Wedding Photo among my awesome one's, so keep that in mind if that is something you want too :)

My opinion is, don't worry too much about your time. He doesn't rush you at all. If anything I just wanted to get the Wedding started..LOL I felt like we were out there forever! :) BUt well worth it.

Good Luck

Does anyone else have problems with Claudia not answering emails? I think she ignored my friend request on facebook too! I just re-requested her. I've chilled with my emails, but once every few months when I have a question or something, I expect a reassuring email back. I really don't know what to do. She makes me feel so uncomfortable I feel like I'm gna have the wedding from hell. In her last email to me she goes "tenative ceremony for the same day.." so I tell her well my contract says my wedding is from 5-11, I don't want any one interfering with it-- no reply! Goddammit!

I'm wondering if anyone knows who I have to get in touch with for some info on Dreams, Cancun. I've just decided this is where i would like to have my wedding next October, but I don't know what my next step is. I would prefer to have more info (prices of rooms, Cost for 30+ guests, etc...) before I make a final decision.

For those who married here....did you find it to be fairly affordable, because I don't want my guests having to shell out too much money. I am planning on getting the Ultimate package...does this include the room for the bride & groom? Did you find there were lots of activities to choose from for your guests (swimming with dolphins, scuba diving, etc..)

Sorry about all the questions, but there is just soooo much too take in, i feel as if my head is about to explode...lol

You need to contact the wedding coordinator at dreams to get your date set. As for how much it will cost, you can either get a TA ( there are plenty of them on this site, I believe Jill is the one for DC) Your room is not included in any of the packages. I would reccomend looking at their site and reading up and maybe either contacting a TA or check our expedia or some other travel site for an idea of how much it will be.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
