GynalynL,

uuuhhhhh - do tell about the dress!!smile43.gif

Did you find yourself overwhelmed with variety of styles? Did you know exactly what you wanted to try on? Who went with you?

That's too bad about not being able to book the date you want now...it is somehow comforting knowing you have made a choice have it confirm by hotel... But you know - time flies...

As far as I ideas go... yeah, lots of talented brides on here.

One of my favorite threads is "what I would and wouldn't do again" :)

Yep... the trip is actually 2 guitars and a bass guitar (all acoustic)... VERY romantic. you can check out this website for examples of typical mexican trios: 16 Exitos De Los Mejores Trios Mexicanos mp3s, 16 Exitos De Los Mejores Trios Mexicanos music downloads, 16 Exitos De Los Mejores Trios Mexicanos songs from eMusic.com

Hope that helps!

Lenchika, the dress I have been obsessing about since I tried it on had an empire waist and some beads, but not too much. Just enough to sparkle. I think trying dresses is so much fun. It's like playing dress up for adults. I tried on all different kinds of dresses just to get a feel for what looked good on me and what I liked. So it's not overwhelming. I took my mom and a friend with me.

I was thinking about getting mariachi band but now the trio sounds more intriguing. Anyone else planning on using either?

Hi all,

I know for those of you getting married at RPLA you have been waiting on my comments/review. I promice I will get to that soon, I have just been so busy since I have came back. I have my AHR next weekend, so I'm getting ready for that too! Here's a link to some of my pics incase you didn't see them ( I posted them where the wedding pics go ) and want to see pics of the hotel.

Regarding the mariachi, I actually hired an outside mariachi because RIU charges $800 a set (45 minutes) to use their house mariachi. Even paying an outside mariachi plus day passes for each one was still cheaper than using RIU's.

This thread was very informative. I originally wanted to have it at Dreams but it didn't fit in the budget I wanted my guests to have and it didn't offer as many ammenities as the Rius. I then chose Riu Cancun but I'm expecting over 60 guests. I just put in a request for Riu Caribe. I'm a little concerned now because no one has talked about that at all. Have any of you looked at Riu Caribe?

Tica_Bride - thanks for the link! It did help. I listened to a few...not too impressed so I'm now thinking of reducing the trio to a solo guitarist. And I've found another link on this site to "Ajua wedding" - they work with different musicians and sounds like their prices are lower, and even with a day pass it'll be cheaper. oh, and btw, I got my confirmation code from the resort on the wedding date - yei! Now I'll be waiting for airfares to come out and hopefully will have it booked by end of this month.

Ginalyn - yeah, dress try-ons are fun...

I went once to David's bridal - wasn't impressed at all with the choices, but it did give me an idea of what I wanted. I went the weekend after we got engaged :)

And then half a year later - got my dress (even before we set a wedding date) - I got it at "Running of the brides" in Boston. They do this event twice a year.

I went with my sister and my best friend - my mom couldn't make it but...the dress now lives in her closet :) And I go and try it on about once a week :)) (Talk about obsessive) :)

I loooooove wearing it - I'm sure you'll feel the same way once you get yours.

Did you think it was worth it to hire the mariachi? I'm debating on that versus using recorded music on my ipod. Do you think you would you even be able to hear the recorded music on the beach?

Hi,

First off, I'm so sorry I haven't written my review of the wedding/hotel but I've been so busy! I'll try finishing it off next week because I have a lot to write!

Honestly, it was really a big deal for me to have mariachi for the ceremony and cocktail hour because that's just part of our culture. I've always dreamed of walking down the aisle to mariachi music! But to tell you the truth, as I was walking down the aisle I was so nervous I don't even remember hearing them; just in the very beginning. I didn't even know what song they played until I watched our wedding video. Also, my family said that during cocktail hour, a few people requested songs and the mariachi didn't play them. I thought that was strange especially because the songs were very common in Mexico. My husband and I were only at our cocktail hour for 15 minutes because we were taking pics , so we didn't get to hear them for very long. But, I did like what I heard while we were there. I'm glad we hired them because I felt they entertained the guests before the ceremony started and during the cocktails.

I'm sure, if you choose to use your ipod, you will be able to hear it on the beach. They set up a speaker system for you, so that shouldn't be issue. I would just ask the WC in advance just to be sure.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
