Jessica&Adam,

To avoid a penalty we started our room black small, and added in increments of 10 when the block got near full. So far it has worked out pretty well, but you have to keep an eye on the room block via the website online to monitor it so you know when to request more rooms. Otherwise, if it fills up your guests will not get your negotiated rate and there is now way for you to know that unless they tell you personally.

Oh ok! AhHHH I wish I could just get the contract from Fernanda and get to analyzing it, and then signing it...but I still haven't seen anything yet! sad.gif

Congrats, kelcrooks, on getting your date, that is sooo exciting!

Does anyone know how the payment schedule works? Fernanda explained it to me on my site visit, but I didn't quite understand what she was talking about...huh02.gif

Jessica,

I paid $500 when I signed the contract and will have to pay another $500 15 days before arrival. The rest will be paid on departure. Is that what you were wondering?

Indypitty,

I guess so!? When I asked her a while back, she had mentioned something really confusing about making a deposit of $1000, then making a 33% (of my grand total) payment 180 days prior to the wedding, then another 33% payment 90 days prior to, then the third 33% payment 30 days prior to, or something like that. But I would probably prefer to just pay it all at once, once in Cancun. And it sounds like I can do that, so thats good...

Your wedding is coming up so soon! Are you still planning, or pretty much done!?

Jessica,

What she told you does seem confusing! And it's weird that she told you something different...

We are pretty much done with all the planning! We need to make some final choices on food and music, and I need to hear back from Fernanda before I can do that. The communication has definitely been the hardest part. She has been really inconsistent, and I thought she would get better as my wedding got closer. Maybe 3 weeks still isn't that close in her opinion, as she probably has many wedding before mine.

The payment schedule depends upon your individual contract, which most likely depends on your anticipated amount of guests, venues you are using, etc. We are also on the incremented payment plan. There is no way for you to figure out how much each deposit will be on your own unless you already know exactly how many guests are attending and exactly what meal they are eating. Also, it depends on how you are handling your bar tab. We are expecting a lot of guests, but our second deposit (the one after the initial $1000) is based on the # of guests who booked their rooms and an estimate of how many of each meal we will require. I know this is confusing, but Fernanda will send you a breakdown of how they came to the deposit amount when the time comes.

I hope this explanation helps, let me know if you have any other questions or you need me to clarify further.

IndyPitty,

Wow you are only 3 weeks away! Congrats and I'm so sorryto hear Fernanda has not been responding faster. Don't stress though, I know it will be beautiful. I hate to say it, but just keep emailing her and let her know how frantic you are getting because it takes her so long to respond and you are so close to your wedding date. Hopefully that will get her to answer back sooner. Good luck!

Courtney,
I know how stressful that is! And especially since your wedding is so near! I would seriously just keep re-sending the same email every few days until I got a response. That seems to work pretty well, hehe.

Let me know what you decide to do as far as a DJ/Band, I would love to hear what you end up doing!

Does anyone know what the Hotel Property Code for the Hilton Cancun is? I'm trying to log on and see the guest list manager, but I need that code to do so...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
