I personally stayed away from Barcelo because of the no outside photographer policy. Maybe you can get around this by flying one with you as your "guest" (some resorts won't even allow this though, if the "guest" looks like a professional photographer rather than an amateur then they might try to stop them or something. Ask the resort, tell them your good friend is a photographer and offered to do your photos for free).

If you go with a resort that allows outside photographers, try Claudiaphoto, her prices are half of what you mentioned, and I've always been impressed with her photos.

Dino Gomez on this forum also has some great photos on his website.

Hello

I went with Vanessa Vargas she is also not as expensive as the $3000 mark, but so far I have found her photo's fab and the customer service is fab. Ask the wedding co-ordinator at the result if you can bring in a photographer and how much they would charge you if you did so. At least you can then see if you can fit it into your budget.

Good Luck x

I am also getting married at the Barcelo- I spoke with Ana the WC and she said that as long as they have a room/day pass they can shoot your wedding. Personally i thought the photographer from the hotel was lacking in any skill so i am in the process of booking Paul (Playa Weddings - Videography in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya) and his fiance who do wonderful videography and just started to do photos for a very reasonable price. Deff something you should look into!

I guess I don't really know....does the "hotel photographer" do just as good of a job or is it better to hire someone else? Please let me know! I'm lost! Thanks!
I was married there in 2006 and it was a beautiful wedding. I was happy with the resort photos but they were not anything amazing. Wedding are expensive and you have to budget in the things that are important to you! Best Wishes , feel free to pm me if you have questions about the barcelo!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
