They have maps and books at the airport. 35 will fit under the gazebo. The reason most of us decided not to do it is because Matt from Del Sol did a HUGEEEEEEE writeup about the poor lighting inside the gazebo. He included explanations and pics. You could probably search for it.It'sreally a personal choice, but at least you can make an informed decision.

Also, for ROYAL PDC brides who have been married at/in the Gazebo, has anyone actually had the seats all in (under) the gazebo? We have a bout 35 guests and although it will be tight (I think) I would really like us all under the gazebo, so I'm trying to get an idea of its dimensions or if we would even fit!

Thanks! Kelly

I think you will not want to meet him on the property so you don't have to pay the vendor's fee. If a WC helps you (depending on who), they may charge you $350.00.  I would suggest you talk to Marvin. He could probably  put them in ice water buckets or something for you. He'sa professional, I'm sure he can give you the best advice.

Does your onsite WC work with you on that? Thanks again!

Beautiful! I love the one of you guys standing on the rocks!

Hello Ladies!  I am getting married at The Royal on June 4, 2011.  For anyone who has already done their wedding here, maybe you can help me with the "Checklist" I am suppose to fill out.  I have been looking at pictures online at other weddings that have taken place, and I see some things that are not on the checklist.  For example, under table lighting.  Does anyone know if the under table lighting is included?  Also, in regards to the flowers, do you get what you see in the pictures?

On another note, do you get to actually meet with the WC that we are assigned through Basecamp when we arrive at the hotel?

Also, has anyone had their hair and makeup done by the hotel spa?  If so, do you recommend using them?

Hi Ashley--welcome!

Lights are included under the tables although they are not very bright at all. You do actually get the flowers that you see in the pics. Your WC will set up meeting with you. We got to the Royal on a Wed, met our WC on a Ths and married on a Saturday. You will be able to go over all of your final details, ask any questions, make any changes and give any directions to her as far as how you would like seating, programs, decorations, etc. The spa has mixed reviews on hair and makeup. Some have had success and some has not.

Good luck!

Happy Belated New Year ladies!! Sorry I'm a little late. I've been stuck in audit hell for two weeks.

Diahr- I hope it works out with your in laws! How stressful. Hope the talk goes ok.

Heidi- I'm not sure on a good alternations person. My dress shop is doing mine. There's a bridal alteration shop in the Village near Le Peep on Times Blvd and that theatre place. I didn't know Ventura's alterations were iffy. That was one store on my list but I never made it since I found my dress. I'll ask around.

Lisa - How is your AHR planning going? Did it happen already?

I agree with going with Fernando. He is slightly pricey - you can do a trial run or both trial and makeup day. For both he voted total as $500. But I also have my mom, my mil, sister, sil and best friend for makeup and hair. Make sure you plan extra time for makeup and hair in case anything happens. According to Fernando it'll take him close to 4hrs to do all of us.

Hey Ladies!!!!

I had originally booked Norma from MAC to do my makeup, and was going to have my FI's cousin do my hair (she is in beauty school now). But after thinknig about it, i realized that i didnt want her to have to spend time during her vacay to do my hair, and on top of that i needed someone with professional experience to do my hair.......Well as of yesterday, i have booked Fernando and his team for my H&M and i couldnt be happier! yes, he is pricy, but after thinking about it, it is the most important day of my life and i want to be taken care of like a celeb that day! Now i can truly relax on the wedding day!! and i spoke to him on the phone yesterday, my god he is sooo sweet! I already love him!! So excited that things are coming together and everything is becoming so real!!!

I hope everyone's planning is going great!!

For most people, the dress was ready within 24 hours, but mine took 2 days ...I'm guessing because it was a big satin dress lol

Do people usually sit the photographer (and assistant) at a table with guests for dinner?  Or just leave them to eat on their own at some point?  Either way is fine by me, just not sure what the norm is (we're using Sascha from Cancun Photos)....

Also any suggestions on tipping vendors (photographer, DJ... and do most people tip the wedding coordinator too?)?

Thanks!!  :)

I sat my photographer with my wedding party and they had a lot of fun with him

I debated on this as well and decided to message Matt of Del Sol about his recommendations. This actually prompted him to right a big review on why you should not have guests seated inside. in a nutshell, if everyone is inside the gazebo and the photographer is in there trying to take pics of bride and groom, everything outside the gazebo gets washed out. You see nothing but white background, no ocean whatsoever. I had my guests on the outside with just the officiant and wedding party on the edge here is an example:

Fernando was still doing my makeup, so my MOH ran to the wedding center where Maya Diseno was waiting with the flowers. She brought the bouquets back to my room, but Zulma (my WC) kept the centerpieces and bouts for the guys.

OMG I just had it this past Saturday and it was amazing! I'll have to post a link with pics as soon as I get them back from various people. If it is any indication, I am still recovering and am not at work today lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
