i had my ceremony & cocktail hour at the beach in front of the gazebo and the reception in front of pelicanos.  it was perfect.  it is not a far walk at all from one to the other.  the gazebo beach area is between sets of the beach cabanas. the pelicanos beach location for the reception is perhaps a bit more open because the pier is next to it. plus you can run to the ladies room at pelicanos, which i did at least 2 times during my reception - kinda funny running thru the restaurant with my big wedding dress on!

for me, the plan & contract was to have the whole thing at pelicanos beach but when i arrived zulma told me both locations were available - it's not something i knew until i arrived.  so it worked out well because we didn't have the cocktail hour tables set up next to our reception.

ladies, i promise that these details seem annoying & aggrivating and it's sometimes hard to communicate with your WC, but they truly want you to be happy & have the best day ever.

    hope this helps.

When we initially contacted The Royal that was one of our main concerns knowing that they did multiple weddings a day and they ensured me a sitiuation like the one you mentioned wouldn't happen.

Now maybe the ceremony that is going one is only the couple and no guests etc so it won't interfere with your reception.  We say a couple "couples" getting married by themselves or renewing vows when we were there.

I e-mailed my wedding coordinator about this, and I'm hoping I get a response soon... now for those brides who have already gotten married here, if you decided to make changes last minute, like if I wanted to move my reception location to a different area of the beach, and I didn't decide this until I got down there, like 2 days before the wedding, are they accommodating to changes?? Or are they strict about stuff? I guess I just feel like I'm not going to really get an idea of what things will look like, etc. until I am down there, and I'm not getting very many answers from my WC.... ??

and this was the setup for my reception.  the light up dance floor (definitely recommend it) was not there yet.

Thanks so much for the pics!! It helps a lot with planning... My reception is at 6pm on the beach, do you think that there will be too many people on the beach at that time?? Do they rope off the area from the public at all??

Hey Sarah, wow Feb 5 is just around the corner... so exciting! My WC is Claudy as well:) She's been great except a little slow this past month. I know she just came back from her own wedding/holidays at the beg of December. Probably playing catch up!

It's the strangest thing...I did my first post on this forum introducing myself a few days ago, but it seems to have disappeared, so I'm gonna try again!

My name is Sarah, and I'm getting married at The Royal PDC on February 5, 2011.  I actually discovered this forum about a year ago, and it has really helped me a lot throughout the planning process, but this is the first (or second, really) time I've ever actually posted anything myself!

I'll admit that I'm a bit behind on my reading at the moment...it's crazy how much you miss if you don't check the forum for a couple of weeks!

I've been working with Claudy for the past several months.  She's been great and very responsive and helpful for the most part, but like your coordinator, GC, she's been resistant to a few things like shipping items ahead of time, and at the moment, I'm fighting to get the Tres Leches cake for my reception!  I'm waiting to get a final invoice from her now, and I think I'm going to get transferred to someone else very soon...maybe I'll have more luck with shipping stuff ahead with my new coordinator.

Anyway, it's great to meet you all!  Happy planning! :)  and Happy Holidays...

              ~ Sarah
