ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Well I retract everything I said yesterday :( I just cannot get over all of this. We were told everything would be all set only to be told by our TA that she was misinformed and this was not the case.

So I ended up having to call all my guests last night and just had them dispute the charges and had everyone re-book on their own. Thankfully pretty much everyone is all set.

This has been the most horrendous experience. I hope no one ever has to go through this.

I couldn't really see it being dead either, but you never know.  Also, what photographers are you ladies using, I was going to use Moments that matter photography but they just got back to me and said they are now using one photographer and one assistant.  It use to be Lincoln and Lori and now its a local whose work I've never seen.  Makes me nervous!!

I don't think 5th Ave is ever dead.  We went for 5 nights in April and would walk through 5th after dinner everynight, and it was always busy!

I'm using Vincent from Del Sol for photography, his pictures are great and Del Sol havebeen great to work with so far.

This really sucks. Maybe your TA can ask her agency to cut some of the commissions that you are paying for due to all the trouble. They really should have known about this in advance.

Oh no! They're not going to do anything for you now?!  What the heck is the point of having a travel agent if they can't help you in situations like this?!  I'm so sorry this happened to you! I can't imagine what it's like to tell all your guests that they have to shell out for another ticket.

I made the decision to book myself on another flight as soon as I heard about Mexicana canceling flights. I didn't want to wait around to see what the TA was going to be able to do and run the risk of flights getting more expensive. She wasn't able to offer better rates on flights anyway, so I figured I would just handle it myself and then try to get the money back through my credit card company. On the bright side, my CC was very easy to work with and they said I would see a credit on my statement in the next 1 to 2 billing cycles.

Thanks ladies, and I totally agree. I am going to write to her boss and ask about the commissions I did not even think about that. I mean I feel bad but than I don't. I know she is so overwhelmed but than under extrenuating circumstances like these other agents should get involved and help out to.

I had to call everyone of my guests. She should have offered to do that. Than she messed and said she got confused and sorry and it was just a mess. If I knew we were all going to have to do the work ourselves I would have never gotten a TA what is the point. Ya thankfully none of my guests had any issued with the cc companies either but that is not even the point.

The other thing was certain amounts I was given did not match. It turned out this one was booked for just the room and someone else had the flights, or they were two flight charges bundled into one. As a TA how can you not know this.

Worst by the time this was all resolved and everyone went to book the flights had gone up even more!

For now I am just glad we are all getting there. However I have to think how to word it and do it but some how this travel agency will compensate us for all the money we had to shell out and all the work I had to do.

Any ways enough with me being the debbie downer around here lately lol thank you so much for everyone support. I wouldn't have been able to get through this without your girls.

Its taken me a while reading through all the pages but I finally finished.  Everything was very helpful but I still have some questions.  I haven't booked my date yet but will be calling soon.  I was wondering if 5th Ave is still alive and fun on a wed. night at like 11 pm.  We were thinking of having just a dinner reception and then going to 5th ave after for dancing and drinks. But if nothing is going to be open or if not that many people will be around then I don't want to book my wedding on a wed night. What to do. . .

On another note, sorry to hear all the frustration and complications with the airlines. Looking forward to read more replies and posts!

I hear Blue Parrot is a really fun place.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
