He suggested that we take those who want to keep the party going to the Blue Parrot. Our wedding is on a Friday and they have a nightly beach party here with fire dancers on Friday nights. Supposedly this is the place to go, so we shall see.
I think this is what we are doing. We have a small group, so after the reception I want to see the Fire Dancers.

I have a document at home that has the measurements of the aisle, I will post it later.

Do the flowers have to be freeze dried or fresh I assume? They probably won't allow fake flowers, since they would blow away?

Thanks ladies for all the feed back re reception length. I think I will extend the time. I am thinking of hiring the lounge furniture from Cancun, and I think that is $2k, and then the DJ with the floor is god knows how much more, so I will likely extend it to make it worth the the $$ spent. Also, since Playa has become such a "hot spot" lately, I heard that Blue Parrot and Congo Bongo is outrageous in their cover fee - supposedly $50!! I remember reading that it someone's post. Although, I think I would speak to the manager on shift that night and explain that the size of the party and the alcohol bought would more than enough cover any type of entrace fee they were planning on making that night, lol!

I just have to vent and express how irritated I am. We visited Royal Playa in 2007 and at that time had decided on destination wedding. The following year we casually inquired about pricing. Albiet, that was two years ago, I am still flabbergasted at the inflatation of prices. $350 vendor fee??!! Come on, seriously! The price of photographers and DJ's are almost more than I'm paying for our wedding in Vancouver.

I still haven't heard back from the US office re my date for the wedding. I see that it is also still available to select on the website!!! F$#%!$!$#$!

When we were just in Playa this past November we were able to do $30 pp including open bar at Coco Bango!! Granted it was a guy that I found on 5th but it was a great time. I would look for this guy. I can't believe since I booked last July the vendor fee has gone from $100 to $350!!!!!!!!!! I guess the problem is people are willing to pay so they just keep hiking the prices. Totally and absolutely ludicrous.

Is anyone that is working a travel agent to book everyone's trip getting any comps? My agent said that if we have 30 rooms booked for the same dates our room will be comped for the same days. Unfortunately right now we are looking only 23 rooms booked. I just feel like we are giving both the the travel agent and Royal a lot of business not to get anything comp'ed or discounts.

I was curious about that as well. The Royal is the frontrunner for me right now but i will have a large wedding of about 100+people so not only do I need a resort that can handle that many but I would love to get something out of all that business

Hey ladies, I feel like I've been so absent lately!!

Does anybody know, how do the cocktails work for the reception? Do they have a bar set up right there and is there a limited assortment of drinks? I'm making my menu right now and wanted to include a "signature drink". Taking a fun poll. . . anybody else have a signature drink and what is it?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
